[Koreen] Pascal Siakam is eligible for a 5 year/$307.23M deal next summer if he makes an All-NBA team this coming season.

> Since 140 percent of Siakam’s salary next year — the new limit for an extension for a designated veteran — would be well above the 30 percent of the 2024-25 salary cap that is Siakam’s maximum salary, Siakam’s starting number is obvious. If next year’s salary cap grows by 10 percent over this year’s number — the maximum it can jump under the terms of the new CBA — the cap for 2024-25 would be set at about $149.62 million. Although an extension for Siakam would likely be worded to indicate he would be eligible for whatever 30 percent of the cap ended up being, the approximate number would be $44.89 million based on the highest possible cap jump. Add in 8 percent year-over-year raises, which the Raptors can offer him, the total would be approximately $202.28 million over four years, or $240.17 million over five if you want to fold in this coming season. If there is room to negotiate, it wouldn’t be much. Siakam has accomplished enough in the NBA that he can ask for all of that. Lesser players have received similar deals.

> The Raptors could offer Siakam a five-year supermax contract in free agency next summer if Siakam were to make All-NBA this coming season, which would start around $52.37 million and total about $307.23 million.

> Players who made right around that percentage of the cap this past season: Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, Kristaps Porziņģis, Jrue Holiday, Ben Simmons and, yes, Siakam. Those players accounted for the 19th to 25th biggest individual cap hits this past season.

Yea no thanks. You got it Raptors 👍

  2. EarthWarping

It’s been reported a few times that they aren’t offering him a supermax even if he’s eligible for it.

Makes you throw up a bit in your mouth

  4. StoicRetention

He would be 30 by the time he’s eligible if he makes All-NBA. The big winner would be Jaylen Brown fans who would instantly be vindicated because this would be an all-time albatross of a contract

You gotta pray beyblades are the next nostalgia luxury good if you pay that.

Get ready to keep speaking Canadianese, buddy

Lol no way the Raptors are doing that

Shit is getting ridiculous. These type of contracts should be reserved for only the top 5 players in the league.

would a team give him that deal?

  11. AssyrianRhapsody

The Raps haven’t even offered him the 30% max this offseason. Don’t see this happening.

Man, everyone gets paid in the Freedom of Movement Era.

    Everyone is a star

This Era made James Harden a Superstar…

It’s a really dumb system when fans are cheering against a player getting all-NBA

I’m also eligible for a 5 year, 307m deal with my employer; doesn’t mean I’m getting it.

even is he qualifies masai aint giving it to him, just look at the FVV situation, he rather trade them then eat a terrible contract

  16. johnjohn2214

Eligible doesn’t mean you have to pay him. It’s not like the Raptors are on the cusp of a championship and they should overpay.

I’m a pascal Stan. I hope he gets it.

  18. qotsabama

He’s not getting a super max. The raptors know that no one else can offer it. If he chooses to be petty and walk to another team the raptors will take that vs paying him $60M+ a year.

Watch that overrated clown, Masai, lose him for nothing next off season.

  20. almonicus11

This would immediately be the worst contract of all time, if they do this it’s time to wrap it up, GMs have lost their minds.

We should do it. I don’t care it it ends up being an overpay. Siakam is a top 20 player and we drafted and developed him. He wants to be here. Unless we actually have a concrete plan as to what to do with the money, then why not pay our homegrown star? It’s not like we’re gonna sign any of the free agents out there.

  22. Sniggzy

Siakam is a disaster man. Worst thing to ever happen to the Raptors. Yes, I know, he was instrumental in our championship run. But he is not that guy, by any stretch of the imagination.

  23. Reason siakam is saying he wants to stay in toronto is this very reason. Masai about to lose another player for nothing again aint he? Lol
