    Amnesty Amar’e.

Melo wasn’t waiting… if the Knicks didn’t get him he was getting traded to the Nets and the Knicks would have ended up with Deron Williams.

I will go to my grave believing this.

  2. patrickthunnus

Melo. We gutted a winning team and it set us back.

  3. det8924

Amnesty Amare and decline Billups team option would be my choice. Melo wasn’t waiting and the Nets would have traded for him. Zinger trade was the right move.

Not hiring Phil is also a solid option but I would go with having two max slots and Melo via the amnesty and declining of Billups.

I think had the the Knicks gotten Tyson Chandler and had cap space left over they would have had the ability to get another “max” player or just rolled over the space and signed supporting players on one year deals. They would have been a lot better for those years

  4. dtc_brock

Replace hiring Phil with bringing back Steve Mills and that’s my pick.

  5. Reptar_4_Life

As much as I loved melo as a Knicks it’s him. We were gutted and Stat wasn’t the same when he arrived

  6. ZekeAndDestroy_

I honestly believe waiting for Melo would’ve brought a ship here already.

  7. theblackyeti

Wait for Melo. But can’t be too made at it because we ended up with that Chandler/JKidd/Melo team that was fire.

I’m definitely trading Porzingis though. That’s not a what-if. That was the best possible outcome.

  8. SlenderRoadHog

Never hire Phil 1000%. I cant think of one move he made that helped the Knicks besides picking Zingis. IMO he completely wasted Melo’s best years in NY.

Edit: Not to mention Phil was obsessed with the Triangle System of offense and trying to find players/coaches to fit his shitty and out dated system.

  9. WhoTookPlasticJesus

Wait for Melo. Phil sucks and maybe he’s a close second regret. But Amare is better in nostalgia than he was irl, and KP and his brother can eat my whole ass to this day.

  10. Oliverqueen03

Melo easy…one of our picks traded to Denver turned out to be Jamal Murray

  11. The_Notorious_Donut

Phil. Knicks had a lot of routes and potential to go from that season but Phil basically derailed everything, forced Derek Fisher in as coach, gave us Jose Calderon and Quincy Acy as starters, and put us back years to the point that 2021 was the first winning season we had since his shit

  12. Maleficent-Thing3863

Get Phil the fuck outta here

  13. spreerod1538

Wait for Melo. He didn’t want to play for the Nets, period. He forced the Knicks hand to guarantee himself some extra money and therefore sacrificing all of our assets, making it impossible for us to aquire a 3rd player… AND on top of that, we were given Billups who we stupidly amnestyed, when if we waited for Melo and saw that STAT was breaking down, we could have just used it on him. Melo forcing us to trade for him fucked up his tenure on the team.

  14. CraYzySaurous574

Wheres not hiring steve mills damn it. that would solve a lot of problems

  15. MelKijani

    Amnestying Amar’e

the Knicks could have gotten another max free agent to pair with Melo .

  16. i-piss-excellence32

I feel like amnestying amare is the best way. Not hiring phil would probably be 2nd though

  17. builtfromthetop

I’d go with one of the bottom two. Phil was honestly right in hindsight, but we blundered it. Kristaps is always hurt, so trading him was the right move. I don’t think Billups was a big ceiling raider, though. It’s far and away signing Carmelo Anthony as a free agent. We’d have him plus the squad that we traded away. It’s a shame we gave in to his pre-madonna attitude and went for a trade. People criticize the Knicks for not surrounding him with talent but don’t point at him for demanding that they trade for him, hence losing said talent. Then, we had a shot chucker getting us nowhere

  18. slickrickiii

Why would anyone pick never trade porzingis, that trade was a win! The alternative is he either leaves as an FA or we have to give him the overpay that the Mavs gave.

  19. Old-McJonald

I’m gonna go with not trading for Eddy Curry

  20. Wellitjustgotreal

Amnesty. Billups was what we needed. Amare got worse every year after and Brook Lopez could’ve been acquired.

    To recap:

    Billups
    JR Smith
    Lance
    Melo
    Brook

Would’ve been a problem. Granted Lopez a pipe dream. Tyson stays and it’s still difficult for the league.

  21. Marcusreddit_

Amnesty Amar’e. I love STAT but that contract strangled us.

Pick two. Against the rules but…. Lock Dolan in a closet somewhere. So we Never hire Big Chief Triangle and we wait for Melo to be a FA.

  24. gwords16

Definitely amnestying Amare. Everyone in here saying to wait for Melo totally forgot that Melo was not waiting. He wanted to get paid because of the uncertainty of the lockout that was looming. If we got rid of STAT’s contract and then declined Billups’ option, you’d have 2 max slots available to go add 2 more stars.

  25. SanchezPrime

Wait for Melo to be a FA.

He wasn’t going to the Nets and if he did they’d be the LOLNets
