Dame doesn’t “have to” play minutes, but he does need to play games, 58 during the regular season to qualify for awards. If he wants to play and he and the FO agree to risk injury, he could play PG any amount of minutes, but that remains to be seen.
Dame could potentially play as little as the first possession and then sit out, leaving 32 minutes for Scoot and 15 minutes for Skyler @PG, 32 minutes for Ant and 16 minutes for Shaedon @SG, 16 minutes for Shaedon and 32 minutes for Little @SF, 24 minutes for Jerami and 24 minutes for Jabari @PF, and 24 minutes for Nurk and 12 minutes for Jerami and 12 minutes for Jabari @C. This is why waiting until 12/16 to add Center Orlando Robinson in the Dame to Miami trade is a prudent one, which would be @28 games, thus requiring Dame to start in the first possession only for 4 games.
The Blazers would have @58 games to qualify for the Play-IN by winning half of the Dame era games and 30 of the 58 Scoot era games. The question is, is this a .500 team?
