The Raptors Could CHANGE The NBA With This INSANE Contract

The offseason saga around Pascal Siakam has a new twist as the NBA has REVEALED what the player could be eligible to receive with a supermax contract. The saga started with the Toronto Raptors seemingly wanting to trade Pascal Siakam after analyzing the constraint surrounding his contract and the threat of the player walking away from the team for nothing in the 2024 off-season. The ability to trade Siakam was deterred by the player making it clear he will not be signing a contract with any team who trades for him. As a result, the Raptors were left with lackluster offers and despite interest from the Atlanta Hawks were potentially forced into keeping him.

Things took a big change this week, however, when reports revealed the possibility of Siakam signing an extension in THIS offseason, where he is eligible for a 4-year $192 million figure. Whatever your stance is on the player, it would be great news if Masai Ujiri could lock down the two-time all-star at this number but things could take a twist with the figure he could receive if he makes an All-NBA appearance this season, and it is even more than what Jaylen Brown got..

  1. i'm sure bobby and masai have tried to extend pascal already. Pascal is positive he can make all NBA, he wants every penny of that supermax. the raptors would love to have pascal at 4/190 area. in 3 years. 50M per year is gonna look like a bargain, sounds crazy, but a lot of guys will make 65-70M for the same production

  2. If the Raptors give this kind of money to a 29 year old who has peaked, they will be paying him historic money for declining play, Siakim will NEVER bring them to another final and they won't be able to sign their remaining free agents next summer. This supermax would cripple the Raptors for years due to cap issues.

  3. That’s insane… I’m sorry. Even if he gets all nba he isn’t worth that. But really no one is. Well maybe the elite of the elite. The 5 super stars. Curry /doncic / giannis / Jokic / embiid whatever. But come on. Pascal is that next teir. He’s not a super star. He’s an all star. That should cap out at 50 million max a season. 5 years at 250 mill

  4. You can’t give pascal 60+ and og 40. We would be screwed. Someone needs to go. If pascal gets 60+. You think OG will take 30? Hell no. He will want minimum 35×5. Or 40×4

  5. Lots of raptors fan base likes to talk about trading pascal for unproven draft picks. When the team was winning the last few years, before winning the championship. Wasn't the organization making billions of dollars during that time. Along with the new television contract worth billions of dollar. So whats the issues now that pascal should get paid.

  6. I would not be loyal to this team that never built around me as the best player, and a team that put me on the trading block, I would want every penny

  7. It doesn’t matter how you spin it. Paying a 2nd option player that’s already 30 years old a supermax just doesn’t seem like a good idea. At least Jaylen Brown is only 26.

  8. Is there a thing as a No Trade Clause like in the NHL? Because if he signs that 192M, because he wants to stay and give the Raptors more many to play with, they could just trade him, so no incentive to sign…

  9. Giving a player like Siakam a $307M supermax would be the dumbest decision in NBA history.

  10. Yes.. simple raptors longing for superstar player and I understand siakam is not a superstar player but sats wise accolades wise it says so and by nba standards hes a eligible for a supermax contract siakiam earned it so give it to him . Its not hes not his fault the team and nick nurse underwhelmed expectations clearly he played his heart out to earn that possible contract.. i think needs to sign him and masai needs to work harder to surround him with players that are better fit with him

  11. Everyone still stuck in the days when the best player on a team only got 30m-40m max. Pascal is already a proven all-nba player. If all-nba wasn't decided by positions he would've made it and future teams will be position less. The only case of a supermax player getting overpaid is if they made all NBA once and got a supermax, which could be Jaylen Brown depending on if he makes it again.

  12. Is there really a choice? Trade him for pennies on the dollar or pay him and hope you can unload him a couple years down the road. I know everyone thinks Scottie is superstar bound but he gonna need a teammate that can take some of the pressure off for that to happen. Siakam can be his Robin in a year or two.

  13. Did you forget Raptors are not technically a 500 team. If a team rest all their good players at the end of season that win doesn't make you 41-41.
A player gets their worth not what the max is, playing on AllStar Team doesn't make you max . You barely made it on the AllStar Team. Overpaying gets You fired unless your building Assets that can bring Max return? Looking what your neighbors is getting lacks any Christian values

  14. I do not understand the hate and or hesitation in paying Siakam. He's the Raps 'Go Too' guy and a top 10 NBA player, I don't care what everyone else says abt his overall ranking. That $307mil seems like a lot, it isn't! You have to pay your employees, in this case the players and if you cheap out, where does that money go? It goes into the owners already overflowing pockets. Give Siakam the money now and stop worrying about the future; if he hasn't proved to you yet he's worth it, you're the fool and we'll watch another star up and leave this team for nothing.
