NBA Legend Kevin Garnett believes Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis can be on the same level as Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. Jokic is a 2x NBA MVP and recently just swept Davis and the Lakers en route to the first NBA Title in Denver Nuggets history. When healthy, there is no question Davis is one of the best players in the NBA; however, is it fair to compare him to Jokic considering where he is at in his career? America is so racist it's honestly very sad
You cannot develop court vision and intellect later in your career . Great sport vision and analysis is developed early , very few team athletes are blessed to see the game in slow motion and know what is going to happen . Yes, there are great physical athletes that get by on physical gifts but to mentally breakdown opposition is not developed late in one’s career . Remember once these athletes reach top leagues their athletic careers are almost 50% complete , if for example they started playing competitively at age 10 . Jokic, Magic, Bird, Zidane, Gretzky , Messi , are a few that developed these gifts early and see patterns and more often than not predict the next action . You are not going to all of sudden get this gift ,with everything happening at such a fast pace around you , if you have not shown signs of this development as a young athlete .
Lol. What a joke. AD is supremely talented athletically but does not have half the basketball IQ or mental drive that Jokic has. He may at some point be able to outgain Jokic in terms of stats (although that is highly unlikely) but he will never contribute to a winning championship team in the way that Jokic did this season.
AD needs someone like Lebron to be the driver in terms of winning. When Lebron retires the Lakers are in a lot of trouble unless they go get a team leader like a Jimmy Buckets.

Jokic is clearly better than AD in my oppinion but i have zero issue with KG for what he sais AD is an all time great and mvp caliber player. Certainly better than Embiid

AD is just too old and injury prone. It will never happen. AD will be 31 next season and no player over 30 has been MVP since Steve Nash, and before him Moses Malone and Jordan. It's just incredibly rare. Even if healthy, which he almost never is, he's not close to Jokic because he doesn't impact the game as controlling the offense, passing, rebounding. He even out rebounded AD in the series. The Lakers came into the series with the idea they were going to defend Jokic with Davis 1 on 1 and that lasted 3 quarters before they took AD off Jokic, and put Rui Hachimura on him because AD wasn't slowing down Jokic anyway. There's no argument that AD is as good as Jokic after that series where the Lakers got swept.

People just can't stomach that a European player whooped all these American players in the NBA and won the chip! If Jokic loses to AD, everyone is happy. Now that Jokic took the crown, they want AD to swing the pendulum back to American players. When the truth is, Jokic is the best European player EVER, which supercedes what AD can ever become. All AD can do is smile/smerk at Jokic when Jokic went at him. Jokic was on a mission to prove and say, Fuck LA. Fuck AD, give me my flowers!

AD was always evaluated on the potential and perception what he shoulda, coulda, woulda… These media heads were putting him in convos he didn't belong in… Jason Tipmf of The Volume had AD as the best player in the world for these playoffs, because he won a championship prior to this year and was playing good in these playoffs. championship in 2020… He took that as a reason and overlooking Giannis and Curry that won more recently than AD and were way more consistent in their performances last couple of years.
I get what KG is saying… He wants an American player to push away the foreign stars and bring basketball home… Many people like Stephen A do too… But they really pushing AD in convos he doesn't belong in…

If you've ever watched any video of KG talking about Jokic, you'd know he doesn't like Jokic. I watched an interview where he desperately tried to convince TMAC that jokic isn't the best. Tmac shuts him down, and KG tries to laugh it off.
KG was just trying to push AD to be as good as Jokic. But come on, the is no comparison. In the western finals, it became clear very quickly that AD isn't in the same universe as Jokic. AD is good player but not Jokic level.
All you have to see is that clip of Jokic throwing that crazy 3 before the clock ran down in the finals. The look on ADs face when he realized that Jokic was in a different league

Jokic has AD beat in IQ, Durability and Consitency. AD is in his 11th year in the NBA – if he were going to be durable and consistent it would have come already. No chance he passes Jokic.
AD will never be better than almost as good as Joker. He’s better defensively, and he’s an offensive force, but he cannot pass anything like Joker (who can?). He’s also brittle.

Garnett only being half serious. That's obvious. For clicks, views, whatever. Thing about Joker is he may be newer to the NBA but he's not newer to the game. AD is just two years older than Joker. One month separates them. AD has played more years in the NBA. And he's still BEHIND him. And will remain so. That's not taking ANYTHING away from Davis. But he's not Joker. If he were going to exceed Joker it would have happened already.

Most people lack critical thinking. Saying player A can be as good as player B does not mean that they are equal in all their skills. Ad can be as good as joker just for n different ways. Joker has better iq and passing and AD is a much better defender. They can be different and still be on a he same level.
Am i the only one that feels like KG is salty that joker surpassed some of the legends of the sport? He is not rly talking about surpassing AD, he is more likely pissed about AD leting Joker cook all the Legends (KG included ) that where ranked above Joker( post Ring+2xMvps ). As if AD with 50 games per season could hold back Joker from winning anything 😀

Jokic consistency is on par with MJ and Kobe and neither one of them dreamed of shooting as efficiently as him. Always rooted for ADs peak until he got to LA cause it would've been a sight. But AD is never gonna be on jokic level, not built that way
AD was abused by Jokic. AD plays half the season and plays hard in half the games he plays. So you tell me how he can be in the Same level 30 pounds lighter and wearing street cloths 60% of the time. Face it the guy barely cares.
