  1. Cade looks decent in midrange but not at Booker level. His playmaking is good. His defense is average. His problems are that he can't get to the rim and has very low finishing when he does and his 3pts shooting is atrocious. James suggested his saving grace may be moving more to the mid range but there's only so many shots a player can move there in a realistic shot chart. If Cade cannot drastically fix at least one of finishing at the rim or 3pts shooting, he's not going to be good as a #1 option. The easier thing to fix by far is obviously the 3pts shot but he's just so atrocious at it over such a large sample. This is like Scottie Barnes Level 3pts shooting. Maybe the best model for Cade is not Devin booker who is a mid range god, who has a working 3pts shot and who still finishes at the rim much better than Cade. The model for Cade is probably more Shaun Livingston. Be a good connective passer and defender that can take some mid range shots as a 2nd or 3rd option.

  2. crazy how much we're overrating someone who's been the least efficient starting PG in the nba for the games he's played. When has a young player with NEGATIVE win shares through 80+ games ever panned out to something?

    almost never

  3. Cade isn’t going to reach his hype levels because he might be an elite shotmaker, but he can’t get all of the way to the rim or finish at the rim efficiently and because of that won’t draw fouls. You’re looking at a slightly bigger D Lo profile from when D Lo is at his best.

He might be your favorite hoopers favorite hooper because he’s smooth and can make any jump shot from anywhere, but he won’t be an elite offensive player unless he can get to the rim and penetrate consistently. He has never shown that he’s the level of athlete to do that even in college. If he’s bigger than D Lo and a better defender he might be okay and trend more towards Khris Middleton.

Cade has never shown the ability to be more than this. The margin for error being a midrange / jump shot player even a really good one or even an elite one is so high — I’m not even convinced Cade is elite versus good in this area.

Booker has become a jump shooter and there’s reasons for that but Booker could get to the rim and get fouled. He worked from that base and started shooting jump shots but he can get to the rim when he wants and that’s the difference. Cade couldn’t beat college defenders with his dribble to the rim.

  4. Cade is definitely divisive. I feel like we are missing out on the true stalearts of the draft, Franz and Mobley. I will speak about Franz with a bit of bias but I do watch other teams. Each has a chance to be special and so does Cade, however Franz has added facets to his game all while being overlooked in the offense. Already Franz' finishing, off ball movement and activity, bball IQ, selflessness, and help defense has been hiiiigh level not for his class but in the NBA. Plus Franz is available and he's fucking tough, gets hit on so many drives, should be getting foul calls. Franz needs to improve his mid range, and learn the art of foul baiting, but other than that he's a stud.

For Cade It's not that I don't see it, I feel like there is the Ben Simmons thing where we are speaking of possibilities but he hasn't pieced it together long enough for Cade.

  5. Killing me talking like Cade is something more just a good player. Cade is a needed piece but he's just a piece. He's not Grant Hill or Zeke. He's Dumars or Rip.
