So, Joel Embiid has for years considered the option of national team play, seeking citizenship in both France and the US. Supposedly to be able to play the Olympics for either of the team. Cameroon, his birth nation, has failed to qualify for big tournaments, like the WC and the Olympics during Embiids prime.
Seeing that Cameroon on sunday won the African pre-qualifier for the Olympics, do you think Embiid may consider playing for Cameroon instead? This means that he can partake in the FIBA-qualifier that will be hosted right before the Olympics. With the possibility of Siakam joining the team, they should be good contenders to become an olympic team.
I would love to watch a competitive African team, becides of Nigeria, in the Olympics.

He’s already declared for France has he not?
Them qualifying is pretty cool to see because IIRC nobody really ever expected them to with their NBA stars busy during qualifiers. I would imagine that Embiid (and Siakam) would play for Cameroon over other countries, though there’s also a large chance that he’ll be hurt/rehabbing and will never actually be able to.
One of his previous issues with playing for the Cameroonian team was the high level of corruption in the system. I don’t know if he would be ready to get involved in all that, though he does support bball there and throughout Africa.
My first thought: more chances to get injured 😕
He’s qualified to play for any of the USA/France/Cameroon, until he plays for one of them he is not locked out from the other two.
If I were him I’d take Gobert’s job for the Troel Embiid moment
