Can Miami Heat Get Damian Lillard and Keep Tyler Herro?

With the Miami Heat’s pursuit of Damian Lillard still at an impasse, it’s clear the Portland Trail Blazers don’t want Tyler Herro and are waiting for Miami to make a better offer. Could the Heat make a cleaner offer that doesn’t even include Herro or involve a third team?

Wes Goldberg and David Ramil break down what that could look like and if the Heat can win with a backcourt of Lillard and Herro. Plus, is there growing concern that Lillard could change him mind and return to Portland?

  1. You really need to stop buttering up with Tyler. We're far too deep into this Same trade that it is impossible to keep Tyler. Even somehow Tyler stays, as I've said over and over again, he would just be padding his numbers because that's what we all care about. Numbers. he won't be as committed as before because he knows we'll try to trade him again 😂.

Nothing he does will ever make us not want to trade him. Lol!

  2. Caleb would be a great trade chip for them in a sign and trade type scenario. He is an asset

  3. Leaving Herro out of the deal would make sense, but since this is all speculation and the only reported deal is Herro, Robinson, and two picks, I don't know how realistic that is, what with Miami being petty about the deal and all.

  4. The fit doesnt sound easy to make work, but its not much different than what Dame and Anfernee, or Dame and CJ were. They werent very good teams. Dame and CJ did at least make an WCF. But they also didnt have Jimmy Butler and Bam next to them..

If Herro were to start, you'd probably need Caleb/Highsmith at the 4. I'd even be open to looking at Winslow to comeback and help with that wing rotation even more.

  5. Are we forgetting this punitive luxury tax? Mickey would not do it, not even for a year! Cost too much!

  6. I actually think they wouldn't mind taken that deal, but because they made so much of a petty big deal over getting a super deal, that they dont wont to look really bad. So, they just going to wait a little longer and then take the deal.

  7. The heat can’t trade JJJ until after 7/31 because he signed his rookie contract. We are just in the waiting game until then

  8. I think if the heat could keep Tyler Herro in that Dame trade,, it is finish already!!!
Tyler Herro could go back as a six man,,, and let the heat sign Christian Wood or Jaylen Nowell,,, Terrence Ross and Bryn Rorbes in free agency!!!
Oh man!!! Fear the heat already!!! 🔥🔥🔥

  9. Defense wins championships. You just can't have a bad offense to pair with it. And the requirements to be an above average offense in today's NBA are higher.

  10. Miami needs to stop messing around and get this deal done. If u have to pay a little more do it. We are getting back far better asset then we have getting in the past and will be getting in the future. Plus if Pat is still Pat why has he not done it yet. Let’s go get it done

  11. Dame costs: the 2 firsts, the OKC first, a first yall get for Herro, along with Jovic, JJJ, Caleb Martin, Duncan Robinson, and Lowry for Salary. Along with pick swaps. That is what it costs. And the Heat should get serious and do it.

  12. Also “Portland isn’t engaging the Heat” is a ridiculous narrative. The Heat package is garbage. Improve the package, and Portland will talk.

  13. Bam, Highsmith, Jimmy, Herro, Lillard would be a great starting lineup. In crunch time, depending on the game, you have so many options and combinations to work. Go big. Go small. Go offensive. Go defensive. If Miami can pull off getting Lillard and keep Herro? Build Pat a statue outside the arena

  14. Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Jaime, Jovic, and 3 1sts and 3 pick swaps is pretty bad. you guys think its great but its crap

  15. The entire Dame to Miami only baloney is over. He will fully perform his services for any team that trades for him. And Miami did not, and does not have the premier package. So again, I reiterate…the 2 firsts, plus the OKC first, plus the first y’all get for Herro, plus Caleb Martin, plus JJJ, Jovic, Duncan and Orlando Robinson, pick swaps, and Lowry. Price just went up.

  16. Idk if yall follow chef trille but this man damn near single handedly changed Tyler Herro’s value to the point where we’re now making the possibility of keeping him the topic of discussion lol

  17. I always felt weird about gettin rid of Herro if Portland didn’t want him lol also its weird that they don’t want Herro when he’s a consistent proven talent and he’s only 23!!!

  18. Wes & David, interesting conversation & ideas. Sorry this is long. But I think it will explain things reasonably from The “Portland side” of this.

David, you’re right about “pick swaps” they really have no “value” to a team clearly in a rebuild, vs one competing for a championship. Well stated.

Being a Blazers fan since 1975, I’ve seen all the Blazers “franchise players” be traded.

We know Dame pretty well. Dame wants to live in Portland and won’t “hold out” if he doesn’t get his way.

He just built his 10 million dollar dream home here and owns two car dealerships here.

He is also AN AMAZING community involved guy in Portland. This decision was HARD on Dame to make. His dream is to be “that guy that has the championship parade down Broadway in Portland.”

I still can see Dame staying here. He loves this area.

Cronin is one trade away from getting a third good player” to build around him. Don’t be “sure” there’s no way he stays in Portland this season guys. It’s probable, but not an absolute.

I think in Portland’s case here… It’s not that Miami isn’t trying to “offer good compensation”

It’s that Miami doesn’t have a player or players that “fit what Portland would need in return.”

The “First Rounders” are likely towards the end of the first round. (Not appealing) and I would say, except for possibly JJJ & Jovic, there isn’t any players that “Portland needs” from Miami, sans Bam, who’s DEFINITELY not “available.”

There’s a big difference between “not good compensation” and “not needed compensation.”

That’s why a third team would need to be involved. Better opportunity to get a player (or players) you need and decent first round picks than players you don’t need and late first rounders.

    Hope that made sense.

    God bless you guys!

    Larry

  19. Kevin Love is NOT A STARTER, & not a starting 4. He can step in against big teams in the playoffs but he’s definitely not making it through the regular season as a starter 😂😂😂
