Stop trying to make this debate a thing. You wanna know how to get the best lineup on the floor if you insist on ausars defense? Put Ivey on the bench or trade him. If you don’t like that then embrace the suck while the rotation works itself out. Bogs is a pro and has been a starter on the leagues best defense. He’s not the problem and the team certainly doesn’t get better putting a rookie in his place. I love Ausar but he’s not a pro yet and if you want to win you don’t start him
Lets be honest, if we're going for wins it might be smart to NOT start Ivey or Ausar… A lineup of Cade – Burks/Harris/Livers – Bojan – Stew – Duren is probably our best bet. With Ivey and Ausar running the 2nd unit
I believe for now he’s going to be coming off the bench. They believe in Stewart, who’s going to be playing the power forward position and Bojan will be at the 3. If Bojan gets traded and Thompson shows he’s ready, eventually he’ll be in the lineup. Just my thoughts.
AUSAR has the basketball IQ and TALENT to start NOW. You cannot teach EITHER of the 2 and his defensive ability is without QUESTION, even in SUMMER LEAGUE GAMES. Ausar is a connector, defender and rebounder. Gets high above the rim with great instincts and timing. It would be a mistake to not start him.
I understand the push to start Thompson if just for defensive purposes. But to make a issue of Bogdanovich not being a good defender is nonsense. He has never been known as a top or even average defender. Thats not why he has been a starter in this league. Why would it change all of a sudden now that he is in Detroit? He needs to start as he is the only capable shooter that fits best with Cade.
