What The NBA Schedule Says About The LA Clippers’ Expectations

With the LA Clippers’ 2023-24 Schedule being announced recently and the team having no Christmas game or Nationally Televised opening night, what does it say about the way the NBA views them this year? Do they not consider them the same title contenders as they did at this time last season due to the health of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George? Why or why not? Does it say anything about the expectations of the team?

In this episode, die hard LA Clippers fan and Host Darian Vaziri talks about the Los Angeles Clippers’ National TV game count and why it indicates that the expectations are lower and there are less eye balls around the squad this year. Is that a good thing to be a bit more under the radar? Darian answers that and more on this episode of Locked On Clippers.

  1. Yea i think in the west there are a few teams the analysts have higher than The Clippers.
The Nuggets, The Warriors, The Lakers, The Suns, The Kings, and The Grizzlies.
That would make The Clippers about the 7th rated team in the west.
That would explain why they are not being promoted as one of the conference favorites.
I'm not sure the injuries to Kawhi/PG are playing a huge role here as Bron/AD have been oft injured, Steph has missed time, Murray has missed time, KD misses time every season over the last few years, and Ja will be out for the 1st 25 games.
I think it speaks more to the depth of the conference.
All the top teams have either outstanding duos or trios or really deep strong teams.
I think this was likely the consensus even before the release of the nba schedule.
This may be the reason Lawrence Franks hasn't been more active?
I think he believes the one advantage The Clippers have is "quality depth"
I mean without a deal, The Clippers can start either Zu, Morris Sr, Leonard, George, and Westbrook, or start Zu, Leonard, George, Mann, and Westbrook….
Either way that leaves them with one of the best benches in the nba in terms of quality veterans: Batum, Covington, Powell, Plumlee, Martin Jr, and Hyland…..with either Morris Sr or Mann being added to that bench depth chart.
    That's pretty good.
I think my main critique is actually the starting group as i don't think much of the Zu/Morris Sr 4/5 interior combination.
If they don't trade for a better 4, i think it's better to risk playing Kawhi at the 4 and adding Mann to the starting lineup.
With Powell and Hyland off the bench, i don't believe The Clippers "need" the spark Mann provides off the bench.
Why not have that spark with Mann and Russ from opening tip?
That also shifts Morris Sr to a reserve role where his minutes can be managed better!
Unfortunately this also means The Clippers are likely to waive some of the younger players currently on the roster…..
Still a lot of offseason to go but right now i don't think the basketball analysts see The Clippers as a top 1-4 seed in the west.

  2. I made a mistake. I forgot about the Jazz blowing a 3-1 lead right before us. Bubble ball has been blocked from my memory
