The historically mid run of last year was fun at the time but I personally wouldnt be complaining if we didnt repeat it 😅

This might be the most unambitious list ever

ESPN still smoking that hawks mid pack. What they know about that 2024 Hawks squad? 💍

76ers gonna fall off. Cavs won’t win 50+

Smash that over. I think the Hawks could win 49+. Here’s why:

    – Quin Snyder implements his system. Nobody but us seems to notice or accept that the Hawks have had god awful coaches since Bud.

    – Continuity for the best players on the team.

    – Trae had a so-so year (for him) last year. His efficiency started off terrible and ticked up as the year wore on. I suspect he has a better individual performance this year as he returns to his career averages.

    – Nobody had an outlier, hard to repeat performance last year. Remember in 2021, right when LP got fired, Bogi came back and was the best shooter in the league for like 2.5 months? We didn’t have anyone go crazy like that last year. That makes it easier to repeat (or beat) this year.

    – Internal improvement. Player development is not linear, so I doubt ALL the young guys take the leap, but I expect we see some notable improvement from at least one of: JJ, AJ, or OO

    – Depth. Guys like Garrison Matthews, Wesley Matthews, Patty Mills won’t play a lot but they are real players who can hold up in competitive games more than the Justin Holidays of the world.

    – Bogi had a healthy off season. The Trae Young era Hawks play their best whenever Bogi is healthy.

    – Contract year performances from OO and Bey? Those guys want to get paid like playoff starters but have not been extended yet. Perhaps they play their hearts out this season hoping for a big payday in RFA

    – The east is weaker and more open than last year. Sixers are imploding, the Celtics lost their defensive identity and added Tingus Pingus who is already hurt, the Bucks are getting old, the Heat don’t try in the regular season, the Cavs aren’t going to catch anyone by surprise this year, the Knicks are wildly overrated per usual. Who actually got better?

Side note: I’m glad the national media keeps knocking this team. Underdog exceeding expectations is a better narrative anyway.

Keeping my expectations low this season so I don’t end up depressed lol

I think we have a good shot at a top four seed, but we are kind of in the ‘prove it’ stage – that a couple of years ago was not a fluke

Draftkings have 42.5 wins as current bet -110

A first round matchup against the Bucks? Hawks in 6.
