But half the people on this sub are going to the grave with the, “he regressed” narrative.

NBA had him featured as one of their [future superstars.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Gz9f9oVGo&t=1048s) Joining guys like Luka, Tatum, Fox, Shai, Zion, and Trae.

A lot of places are seeing the potential, it’s a shame such a vocal part of the fanbase is insistent on pumping the brakes on him.

Reality is, we go where 4 takes us, lets back our guy.

    Scorching hot take –

Scottie Barnes is good at basketball

Did he really improve on both sides in year two? Felt like a sophomore slump. His Win Shares, VORP and TS% all were lower.

Hes shown flashes that he can be a complete player but I don’t know if I’d say he improved on both sides of the ball.

The best stretch of Barnes career happened at the beginning of 2021-2022 season when Siakam was injured.

Barnes got to play close to the rim, and it allowed him to do what he does best which is attacking the paint, crashing the rim for second chance opportunities and finding open players on the pass.

He has had to play differently with Siakam, and now Yak. His effort and body language was at times a questionable but this is expected from a 21 year old.

I think we will see Barnes improve even more in some area. I expect 18/8/6 with even better defense next year.
