If this ended up happening in 2016, where do you think the Celtics would be today?

    At least 1 chip…

If all else fell in place as it is… No telling how the future picks would have played out though…

I’d say they likely don’t relocate but decide to stay in Boston

  3. Probably would have won one title for that contract with Al. Would say it’s more likely that IT doesn’t get hurt that season with KD and Al on the team. Would have been quite the butterfly effect to see, oh well.

They would still be in Boston FWIW

I’ve thought a lot about this and this is one of those insane “what if” scenarios. IT doesn’t have his nuclear season with a legitimate 2nd scoring option, but the team is much, much better. Assuming the Celtics don’t win it all in 2016-17, IT still gets dealt for Irving. We still had the biggest warchest of picks and Irving was one of the best players in the league. We don’t have the cap to sign Hayward.

Fast forward to the Davis demands. I think AD has zero problems coming to play with KD and Irving, and the pelicans happily accept an offer of Brown, Tatum, Rob, and picks for AD.

Celtics starting lineup is Irving, Smart, KD, Horford, Davis.

Pelicans end up with Jrue Holiday, Brown, Tatum, Zion Williamson, and Timelord.

On paper it always seemed like that was Ainge’s master plan but Kyrie is a lunatic and AD flat out refused to play here.

Probably lose the finals to the warriors in 17. Either way we would not have KD now

I don’t think the timing of things would have worked out any better and we still wouldn’t have won. I hate KD and don’t think he ever has or ever will have what it takes to get a team over the hump from a contender to a championship.

Probably would’ve won in 2018. We were half a quarter away from reaching the Finals with rookie Tatum as the best player.

With KD, we easily win that series and probably would’ve gone up against the Rockets in the Finals. And we all know Harden-led teams aint winning shit.

Knowing KD he would have left after his contract ended lol even if he wins
