So when the upstairs office talks disparagingly about the players, hurting their value to other teams. Should they be fined ?

Iâm not convinced Hardenâs fine was specifically for calling Morey a liar (though that undoubtedly IS the narrative). I suspect the fine was for his comments about never playing for Morey (ie 76ers). The NBA seems to be in a tear recently about players not upholding their contracts and Harden is probably being viewed as a repeat offender.
It didn't make much sense to me that he would opt in then get traded. Typically it's a sign and trade with an extension, or they get traded first with the contingency that they'll opt in. I have no doubt Morey assured him he would get traded, but it was dumb of him to opt in first. Guess he really needed that bread.

Harden does not have the leverage that he thinks he has.
So, signing a contract in the NBA does not mean anything anymore…..
76ers have 3 options this summer with James Harden, Joel Embiid and Daryl Morey. (1) Fire Daryl Morey & keep James Harden and Joel Embiid , (2) Keep Daryl Morey and trade Harden & Embiid for Two All-Stars back in return, (3) Keep Daryl Morey and trade Harden & Embiid for starters and multiple Future 1st Round draft picks. Build for the future and try to complete in the playoffs in the (2026 Season or so). Who's to say that if the 76ers fire Morey and James does the same thing with the new GM coming in. There gonna fire that guy to at the end of the season? Sixers best move is to trade Harden and get as much as you can back for him.
Philly is being unreasonable in their expectations for a Harden trade. Reality is NO team including PHILLY would give up 1st round draft picks for a 34yo rental. Morey is the problem

It's small, but I wish this were a penalty for how many big games this tease failed to deliver in.
It's amazing how badly the media forgets. Darryl Morey tweeted about freedom for Hong Kong. James harden responded to Morey a pro-China stance because, as with so many NBA players, they have tons of business connections in China. So this is move by Harden against Morey is to get more money from the Chinese market.
