[The Athletic] Brandon Ingram on his play so far for Team USA “This is totally different than what I am used to. The team is winning right now, so I can’t be selfish thinking about myself. But it’s a little frustrating right now for me, and I’m just trying to figure out ways I can be effective.”

Steve Kerr on Brandon Ingram’s performances so far :

    1. “Nothing has really gone his way,” USA coach Steve Kerr said. “He hasn’t had a lot of opportunities, but I think that’ll change. I think his time is coming. He’s just gotta stay with it. The thing I’ve learned with FIBA is every night belongs to someone new. I wouldn’t have guessed that Paolo (Banchero) would be our leading scorer last night, but all 12 guys are so talented that all it takes is a couple shots to go in, and any one of these guys can get going. I expect that to happen for B.I.”

    2. I feel like he’s finding his way into the FIBA game,” Kerr said. “I mean, it’s a different game for sure. In FIBA, the defense is rewarded, and in the NBA, the offense is rewarded. FIBA is much more physical. I think he’s having to try to find his spots on the floor, and I think that’ll come. “And like I said, all these guys are gonna break through. From one game to the next, it’s gonna be somebody different. I have no doubt that’ll happen with B.I.”

He has looked awful off ball. The only thing that is working when he is on the floor is his defense due to his long arm. Kerr wont change the starting lineup but honestly, Kerr needs to think about starting banchero over him.

So hes saying hes usually selfish, but team USA is different and he can’t be selfish?

  4. PCFUTPLAYER

Saying this after shooting like 1-9 is such a loser move. It’s been one game and this guy is already complaining to the media. What has Ingram accomplished in the league to feel like he’s being slighted???

  5. gigglios

He has always been super overrated. That AD trade was a swindle by lakers

  6. Maydietoday

I’m sure every star who has played on one of these teams has felt this. Embarrassing that he’s the first I can think of to actually say it to the media . 🤢

Playing in something like FIBA really gives an opportunity to show how effective someone can be off ball

This is a good learning experience for BI

When players can’t play off ball I always wonder is it becuase they don’t run an offense like at triangle or just not good at it. I think it’s a cop out to say they can’t play off ball when you run just a pnr heavy offense etc like how are you supposed to move other than reading windows

  9. Spoofcaptain

I feel like if you swapped Brunson with Hali, BI would be more effective

Put the ball in his hands more often in the SL. He will get others involved!

Banchero is Team USA’s Kobe. he should be their number 1 guy.

  13. Paused_Toast

Maybe he bruised his toe again and can’t play at the level he wants to, when he has a 12 game stretch of dominance out of 82 games where the rest are “he was part of the AD trade”.

  14. Professional-Tip-585

I remember at the start he said he wanted to be the best player on the team lol

More minutes next to haliburton and Kerr calling some ISOs for him will get him going. He should get two set plays for him per half at minimum. Thay wont stop Ant from being the main guy or anything

  16. Fa1lenSpace

This team the US sent is poverty lol

I wish more players would buy into the way Javale McGee played off the bench. Just come out and play as hard as you can until the coach subs you out. If you only play three minutes make it three minutes of glory.

BI doesnt strike me as a great potential FIBA player.
