It’s widely recognized that the Orlando Magic stand out as one of the NBA’s most promising up-and-coming teams. However, what often goes unnoticed is that this team represents the future of the NBA itself. Their abundance of young talent is simply remarkable. With another season wrapped up, the team has showcased significant improvement, leaving fans brimming with excitement for what lies ahead. Orlando continues to possess an impressive array of future draft picks. Even after a fairly successful season, they still have a lottery pick this year, offering a chance to acquire a talent like Wemby. This team is truly setting an example for the rest of the league on how to execute a successful rebuilding process. If you’ve been paying attention, you’re well aware of the imminent threat this team is becoming.
To begin, let’s recap the previous season. Despite a challenging 5-21 start, the Magic managed to secure 34 wins, propelled by the remarkable rookie of the year, Paolo Banchero, whose trajectory points toward superstar status in the near future. It’s a rarity to witness rookies displaying such maturity early in their careers. Paolo consistently averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds, and almost 4 assists per game, all while leading a relatively inexperienced group of teammates.
A special mention goes to Markelle Fultz, who deserves significant credit. Despite facing doubt from many quarters, he orchestrated an impressive comeback season, maintaining averages of 14 points, 4 , and 6 per game. The team boasts several other individuals deserving of recognition, and while I’ll strive to cover them all, my firm belief remains that they are merely one or two key additions away from evolving into a genuine playoff contender and more.
