Shaiā€™s footwork is elite and pair that with his deep bag, heā€™s literally unstoppable once he gets inside the paint. Heā€™s so crafty. Itā€™s hilarious watching defenders try and guard it lol.

Canada just walked the ā€œgroup of deathā€

  3. Never thought I’d see this (3-0 group stage) from Canada at a fiba World Cup

  4. philbeard

Shai is becoming the best player of the whole World Cup.

  5. +111 point differential for Canada through 3 games

  6. Mattercorn

+111 PT differential in the 1st round. Wow!

  7. Between SGA, RJ, NAW, Olynk & Brooks this team is just great when they put their foot on the gas.

Also had no idea Dwight Powell is Canadian, but it makes so much sense.

They avoid the domincan republic right ?

Latvia is tough. We gotta work on our free throws, sheesh

Latvia got gassed after a great first half.

I just want to see Žagars at least in the g-league if not a two-way contract. He’s got some potential and him with NBA development could be interesting.

  11. how does Olynyk score more points vs. Latvia than Gobert lmao

Canada actually faced a little adversity there in the first half and responded really well. Good sign I think

RJ showed up too 22points 64%fg

  14. Robb_94

    10/36 28% 3PTS for Latvia

    Dāvis Bertāns – 1/7, Rolands Å mits – 1/7.

It’s hard to win or compete with better teams like Canada when our game rely on 3-pointers and we cant score them.

    Congrats Canada.

    First quarter had me worried.

Dort being injured, Brooks was in foul trouble, and a slow start with the other team being red-hot from 3. The way Canada closed out the 2nd and continued that momentum into the 3rd and 4th.

Impressive composure that team Canada showed today, hoping they keep this rolling into the next round.

Can’t really expect to win when our main weapon wasn’t working..

Overall a decent showing, but felt like we gave up too early. Point difference is important.

Going 3-0 is huge. Now a win on September 1st against Brazil/Ivory Coast (likely Brazil) takes a lot of the pressure off the game against Spain.

Nice to see RJ get his. Just needs to spend the next 48 hours in gym on the FT line.

SGA’s game in NBA has translated very well in FIBA. Nice to see.

RJ is Team Canada’s wild card. He played well today but they really need him to perform well offensively deep into the tournament.

USA vs Canada in the final is going to be elite television. Hope we get to see it

Truly the first time where we can say Canada bball has arrived. Build the SGA statue already btw.

Liking what I’m seeing from NAW, going to be a good 7th or 8th man on the Wolves this season playing defense and his shot is looking improved.

SGA and Holmgren are gonna cook next season.

Looking forward to another potential OKC-Spurs rivalry.

Next round will be Brazil and Spain. Looking forward to it and Iā€™m on vacay till the 14th. Fuck yeah!

Credit to Latvia playing a really tough, gritty first half. I thought Canada made some nice adjustments, but the second half also would have been a lot tighter if Latvia shot as well as they usually do from 3.

I’m so impressed with Jordi’s coaching. The intensity, the adjustments, the rotations, I think he’s just done a masterful job of this team. I said this after the France game, but he has them actually playing FIBA-style basketball while using their individual advantages, rather than just playing an NBA style and expecting that talent-level will carry them.
