“Portland’s trying to play hardball right now. We understand that Dame sort of handicapped them to some degree by letting the world know [Miami] was the one team he wanted to go to…I think he’s given enough time to Portland & he deserves to go where he wants to go”@stephenasmith

I can’t wait till ESPN gets into SAS’ ear again and he says Dame should go to the Knicks instead for the 50th time

This the same guy that said Lonzo couldn’t get up out of a chair

Even if you remove the trade demand from the equation i don’t see the centerpiece asset they’re getting better than Jovic, Jrue Holiday? Robert Williams with degenerative knees? Siakam on an expiring? Siakam should have value but they *just* signed Jerami Grant and other teams aren’t offering much for Siakam (Hawks)

We also have more FRP’s/swaps to trade than most contenders especially if Herro is rerouted

Portland straight up aren’t serious about trading him. That’s why it hasn’t happened yet.

Any contender/on the cusp team will, at best, have an offer very similar to Miami. Any team who has what Portland is asking for is middling and would have to give away the assets that’s keeping from from being complete shit to get Dame, meaning he’d lead another middling team.

Portland’s plan is to be terrible.

They are hoping to draft a player so good that the player will distract the fans from how poorly their organization is run.

In contrast, when OKC received trade requests from their stars/starters, they made the trade happen and then used the freed up cap space to accumulate dozens of more draft picks.

Spurs, 76ers, Nets, Knicks and even the Wizards also figured out that you can do right by players and still get a boatload of picks.

The Blazers sub is somehow delighted that their organization is gaslighting their star and wasting their cap space even though it takes them further away from improving their team.

I don’t give a shit that Dame reduced his value by specifying Miami. They wasted most of his prime and lied to him about rebuilding the team around him. He owes them nothing at this point.

The team was supposed to be sold when their owner died a few years ago. It’s stuck in some kind of Trust now.

I can’t see them improving until they get some new blood that wants to win and knows how to build a team.

I honestly think Dame needs go bypass Cronin and go to the owner to get this done. She’s selling the team anyway since she has to per Paul Allen’s estate.
