NGL the “world champion” thing is pretty dumb anyways and I’m fine it got called out. Same with the “World Series” in baseball though that has a different historical context. It’s always American sports that do this. I don’t see Manchester City or Real Madrid declaring themselves World Champions after winning their national division or even Champions League.
Yes the NBA is the best league in the world and has the best players but that’s not the point. It’s not a world tournament.
