When did JJ say anything about Bird?

  2. a-chill-guy-22

As if Jokic didn’t just fuck the whole league on his way to a championship without being able to jump over a deck of cards lol.

    Bird would be just fine.

  3. Salty_Watermelon

Dominick Wilkins blasts Roadman and Reddick for misspelling Larry Byrd’s name.

  4. ColdPressedSteak

‘If Larry Bird played in this era, he’d be in Europe’ – Dennis

Bro went allll the way. Not even just a little slight. Kind of insane. And by ‘kind of,’ I mean completely

  5. Bird would be KD with a nightly triple double.
He had three seasons with 50 40 90
    KD has two btw

  6. jotheold

LARRY LEGEND has a winning record against jordan

JJ was in the league being a spot up shooter, and larry had all his skills plus more

wtf are these guys talking bout

Larry Bird was an incredible talent that had a skill set that teams are literally salivating over at his size. Long ballhandling wings/forwards that can shoot are all the rage today.

Larry would be a superstar and he was better than Luka. I’m not comparing Luka and Bird as players, a few people correctly points out when I referenced Luka a few days ago re: Bird that they operated in different ways, which is true. It’s more the numbers themselves and impact. Bird was putting up Luka numbers with more efficiency and with less usage, better defense. None of these guys today would dare call Luka a scrub, so why do that to Larry?

Some of this sadly comes down to the idea he was an unathletic White *American* player so he wouldn’t be able to translate his game, but the same was believed by some then too. Jokic and Doncic aren’t athletic marvels but don’t catch as much bias there because they’re European.

Bird would be regularly launching from the far side of the logo, and hitting it.

  9. MrCatFace13

The recent domination by Jokic and the Nuggets tells me Bird would have dominated.

Also lulz on the physicality. Bird played in the most savage era imaginable and still dominated.

  10. AkronIBM

Appreciate Dominique keeping it real. Bird was sick.

Based and fuck Larry Bird hate pilled

Peak Larry Bird was such an unstoppable force.

Here’s why he is SO underappreciated.

A lot of Jordan fans really started watching ball in 88, when Jordan was really ascending on the scene.

The SI Jordan highlight video on VHS that got packed up with subscriptions, *Come Fly With Me*. He was an icon that transcends the game, like Ali transcends boxing.

Viewership EXPLODED between 88-98. It got numbers that it has yet to return to.

And Bird was still playing at that time, so a LOT of Jordan fans saw Bird play… but they only saw post-back injury Bird, who was slower, played fewer minutes, and was more of a liability on defense than he ever was before the back injury.

And that is the image of Bird that a lot of people have. A white dude with a sweet stroke who couldn’t jump over a pancake.

But peak Bird. 3-time MVP Bird (and the two years that followed.

    That man was a beast.

Bird at his best could go toe-to-toe with ANY player in the history of the game at their peak and potentially win a one-on-one match up or potentially lead a comparably talented to team to a win in a seven game series.

He could take over games, and not just with his own personal states, but by lighting a fire under and leading teammates and just tearing the will out of his opponents.

I’m shocked to see how underrated Larry Bird has become. That cat was just insanely good.

I promise you, 30 years from now, assuming this planet still exists and basketball is still played, young people will shit on Joker and call him fat an nonathletic, and when you go to defend him and explain how much of a killer he is, young people will call you an idiot and act like you know nothing about basketball.

Because that is what young people say now when you try to explain that prime Bird could go toe-to-toe with prime LeBron, like the forget that Jordan was 0-6 in two series against the Celtics despite dropping a 60-point game.

That is how good Bird was.

  13. Vlad is wild for trying to bait him into that White question. Dominique handled it well.

  14. MentllyDisnfectd

Such a trash take but what else would you ever expect from Rodman?

First of all Bird’s court vision, basketball iq and toughness alone were second to none and then you factor in his elite shooting, passing and rebounding? He would be a top 5 player in the league right now imo.

  15. THINK_ABOUT_BALLS

I like how he said guys who played against Bird in their right frame of mind because he knows Dennis played against Larry, but Dennis is a headcase.

  16. theboyqueen

This vladtv guy is like the Wario version of Nardwuar.

  17. MrAppleSpoink

Not saying Bird wasn’t amazing, he was, but I love it when people specifically refer to him as “one of the best shooters ever” cause it’s like wearing a giant dunce cap. I instantly know, without even having to think about it, that I don’t have to take your basketball analysis seriously.

Nobody who has actually looked into it for more than 10 minutes could come to the conclusion that Bird was even on the level of most average volume 3 point shooters today in terms of versatility with shot types, off the dribble shooting, range, or form adjustment for strong contests.

Bird is an all time great PLAYER, that doesn’t mean he’s an all time great shooter.

  18. 20Keys2theHead

Dennis Rodman is a whack job, always has been, and J.J. Reddick talks a lot of shit, considering his level of play and accolades

  19. panamaquina

JJ Redick was a breath of fresh air for 15 minutes and now he’s entering Paul Pierce territory of shut the fuck up dude.

  20. Cypher3470

rodman has never liked bird.. From his time on the pistons I am sure.

I also seem to recall isaiah once saying that bird was only popular because he was white or something of that nature.

  21. TurbulentJudge1000

Dirk Nowitzki is literally a worse Larry Bird.

Bird would be right up there with Lebron every year of who’s the best player in the NBA.

  22. anesthesiologist2

Why is everyone in here mad about JJ when he never said anything that’s being implied here? This constantly happens to JJ where people just make up arguments and say he said it and everyone gets riled up.

  23. Tarkan2

Rodman is the same guy who said Lebron would be an average player in the 80s and 90s, they shouldn’t be taking this guy seriously.

  24. Larry Bird would not have to build his own fucking driveway in todays game which means he doesn’t fuck up his back which means he doesn’t have to lay down on the bench which means dominates against the entire league. Simple logic.

  25. pointguard22

I’m with Nique on this. Bird was a problem and would be a problem in any era.
