Lol mess, love this B story drama. But, yeah Paolo should have communicated that he wasn’t playing for Italy so he wouldn’t get these types of questions.
whammykerfuffle
He asked all the other players, coaches, and bystanders if they had messages for the Italian fans too. Just looking out for them is all

He will be playing for Italy in 10 years.
AhhhhhSpaceeee
Some Italian sports fans are so cruel to Black men hurling prejudice insults at them. Not his reason for not playing for them, but if it was that alone is enough. Reason two could have easily been the fascist direction their PM is taking. That country got hit so hard by covid. My family in Italy are saying people were easily persuaded by false narratives about the government and voted based on that. Any Italians here vouch for that info? Believe half of what you see and none of what your hear so another perspective would be nice.

It’s sad to see this kind of acrimony on both sides but at the end of the day Banchero *is* an American.
donterdoo
It’s all about how you phrase your question, “What’s you message to the Italian fans?”, or better yet “How sorry do you feel for the Italian fans after you joined team USA last minute?”

People get mad when Americans claim to be whatever their heritage is and also get mad at this. I do think he should have had better communication with them though

He’s young and very clearly not been trained in media yet, wtf Orlando step it up!

I like to think that he did it to get back at Italy for taking Guiseppe Rossi.

His father has never even been to Italy, and Paolo didn’t go until this year. Dunno the full story on him potentially playing for Italy but this is crazy. Dude is straight up a USA player.
