> The Team Turmoil vote centers on one factor: drama. Which team, regardless of wins and losses, will be at the center of it this season?
> The winner? After a fourth-place finish last season, the 76ers take the crown, the team drowning amid the end of the Morey-Harden partnership, which, for a decade, was as harmonious as any in basketball. Perhaps a bigger question: After the Ben Simmons saga last season, how much more can 2023 MVP Joel Embiid take?
> The Trail Blazers, reasonably, sit at second as they deal with their relatively amicable split with Lillard. With Portland willing to wait “months” to find the right deal for their superstar point guard, though, the current standstill might last longer than either party would like.
> Philadelphia 76ers: 98 points (68% of first-place votes)
> Portland Trail Blazers: 21 points
> Dallas Mavericks: 17 points
> Memphis Grizzlies: 14 points
> Minnesota Timberwolves: 12 points
> LA Clippers: 10 points
> Boston Celtics: 8 points
> Atlanta Hawks: 7 points
> Los Angeles Lakers: 7 points
> New York Knicks: 7 points
> Charlotte Hornets: 5 points
> Phoenix Suns: 5 points
> Golden State Warriors: 4 points
> New Orleans Pelicans: 4 points

not really surprising
The Sixers are free falling right now. We could be looking at them starting another process next season.
why tf we got 7 points we’re just chilling
makes sense, i’m more interested in the other ones
Portland should not be that high, Dame is 33, they’re going to get a return for him that’s at worst, Jovic and/or Jaquez, Herro or a first if he gets moved in the deal, and additional first round picks, and at best, more than that, plus they have Scoot and Shaedon, and Simons is still pretty young
Mavs should be higher, good off-season, but if it doesn’t work, Luka concerns will rise
The Kyrie tax should put us higher. The Blazers are rebuilding.
Surprised the Raptors didn’t get a vote or two.
Their best player doesn’t have an extension.
Well, who did they choose a year ago? Ok, Brooklyn Nets, that one was too easy… And then Lakers and Utah, ok, I got it. Maybe turmoil is detectable.
I think there is a baseline level of good Philly will be that will keep it somewhere in the top 6. Miami is the team I could see have a wonky year. They lost two really important role players and haven’t replaced them.
Nah philly is in no where to go but up territory now. it’s become too played out.
I really feel for Pelicans fans. If Zion can’t stay healthy this season Idk what you do. Small market teams can’t really afford to sell low. And it feels like it’s all on him. The franchise got away from Lonzo and Steven Adams before injuries slammed them, and has solid role players with serviceable depth. Just need that superstar to bring it all together.
It’s not just Embiid but also Nurse. Nurse isn’t Doc and won’t deal with a moping Harden well.
I’m honestly in my head thinking would it almost be better off if Harden doesn’t play, take the training wheels off Maxey, replace Harden with 3/D PatBev and try to win with workhorses and defense around Embiid/Maxey/Harris. They’d be at a deficit at having two roster spots occupied by non-performers in Harden and Harrell, however. A silly theoretical really. Of course they’re not better but if Harden is in peak sabotage mode…
Embiid is an absolutely dominant regular season player and because of that the Sixers are still likely to finish as a top 6 seed. Embiid/Maxey/Harris is a very good top 3. But how does Embiid cope in such a scenario, having such a heavy load on his back, with the realistic understanding the Sixers were not true title threats this season? He doesn’t seem to have soured on Harden and wants to play with him…he’s had his best 1.5 seasons of his career with Harden. He wants a title. He knows his best chance at a title this season is with Harden. I still believe the Sixers are a threat if Harden plays and is in shape but that’s of course entirely up in the air and volatile.
Then you have the anxiety Daryl Morey is going to feel, recognizing his job is likely on the line in the next 12 months. It’s a powder keg in Philly at the moment. Their lack of depth I think is their biggest issue outside of the Harden drama…they held their heads above water last year when Maxey went down, when Harden went down. Embiid played 66 regular season games, several of his absences being load management with his foot issue, but for his standards was healthy and didn’t have a long term absence. This season, he’s gonna have to be around that 70 number, more than that unrealistic, but this Sixers team just doesn’t have the talent overall to afford him missing 15+ games.
Undisputed turmoil dynasty.
Timberpups are so screwed.
Paying two big man max money in an era where bigs like Rudy are going out lol. Maybe Bev was right, Ant gonna play somewhere else where he can win with a clean salary sheet to put the right fit around him.
WE ARE TOP 3 IN SOMETHING LFG!!
Laughs in Jazz fan.
Do they mean turmoil *during* the season or if failure in playoffs? Cuz those would be two total different lists.
You know Heat culture is more stable than bedrock
No honorable mention bulls? Our shit is going to be a dumpster fire i think.
hawks and knicks?
arent they just the receiving end for embiid?
As a Raptors fan we should be up there.
Two of our best players are potential UFAs (and we might have potentially pissed our best guy off by openly trying to trade him).
There’s serious concerns that our biggest prospect isn’t going to project to be as good as we initially thought
We’re currently getting sued by the Knicks which, although doubtful, could have a catastrophic effect if the Knicks can prove stuff.
We don’t have our first next year.
Our parent company might likely use this as a reason to get rid of Masai.
Um, okay.
Mavs should be an easy second, they’re a play-in miss away (which isn’t out of the question: grizzlies nuggets lakers pelicans suns warriors clippers kings wolves thunder jazz potentially rockets) from a total rebuild with Luka gone.
Ok but like, we’re the top answer any given year. Wouldn’t be the Sixers otherwise
How are the Pels on 4pts? Zion himself is worth at least 5.
Kyrie’s mere presence on a team is enough for people to vote that team 3rd on the list. Even higher than the Grizzlies. Wild.
I’m shocked Philly rated so low last season. It’s nothing but wall to wall drama in Philly since the process.
Trust the ~~downward spiral~~ process
Trust the turmoil process
how are we higher than the pels
Nice, Chicago under the radar before we blow this team up 🙈
