Will Detroit Pistons Go Win-Now With Veterans Or Still Prioritize Youth Development This Season?

The Detroit Pistons brought in a championship-level coach in Monty Williams and traded for veterans in Joe Harris and Monte Morris, while also acquiring two more rookies in Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser and keeping all of their young players from the previous season. What will be the focus this season: win now or prioritize developing their young players?

  1. Rant:
Jaden Ivey needs to bring something to the table that is “above average” because as of right now he is well below avg in every aspect of his game. This guy was billed as a hyper athletic play finisher but he was terrible I mean absolutely atrocious around the rim! Getting turnovers from ill-advised uncontrollable drives it’s so frustrating seeing Ausar (a better athlete from all aspects) play a more controlled game than Ivey!
If Ivey isn’t “figuring his shit out” in the first few game and playing with tact and some kind of method I’d pull him send him to the bench and start Ausar over him or maybe Joe Harris. I don’t have the patience to watch a slightly above average athlete cosplay as Russel Westbrook

  2. I think for the older players matter, the most on the court is in spreading the floor. Without those guys, I am a lot less confident in our improvement from the three-point line.

  3. Detroit has an open roster spot and an open two way contract. Those are going to be interesting storylines to monitor as training camp plays out around the league

  4. Both get young talented vets with experience trade unhealthy players and slow developing players

  5. Monty will probably use vets as training wheels, start the season with primarily vets and get a streak of wins going then hand off the keys to the young players with the expectation of keeping that streak the vets started going just to get them into that winning mentality because after playing for Dwane Casey I'm sure some of these guys have low confidence as they have only won 17 games in an entire season.

  6. Hey Ku! So my thought is this:I think that the Pistons can do both of those things! They can develop their youth while winning games. The key to doing both of those things however, IS THAT MONTY WILLIAMS WOULD HAVE TO PLAY THE RIGHT LINEUPS. If I were coaching the Pistons. For the upcoming season my lineup I would be as follows: Starters:Cade Cunningham PG. Joe Harris SG. Isaiah livers SF. James Wiseman PF. Jalen Duren C. Bench: Killian Hayes PG. Alec Burks SG. Bojan Bogdanovic SF. Jarred Rhoden PF. Marvin Bagley C. And to round out my roster I would have buddy boeheim and Hamidou Diallo.😎🏀
