There is, if healthy, a reasonable stat-line to pencil in but along with Doug’s tempered expectations – Adam also notes that there could be a fine line between individual and team performance and how that impacts the Nets decisions.
The hosts then look at their favorite offseason additions, and while they vary in players, both agree the youth and prospect off hitting on one or two players would be a huge win for Sean Marks.
Before turning in their FIBA prediction cards the guys also answer the question of job security for Sean Marks and Head Coach Jacque Vaughn. In both cases Doug and Adam would be hard pressed to see anything other then trust and patience in both cases.

Good evening everyone. It's almost time for training camp and another season of NBA basketball. But for the Brooklyn Nets people have looked at this season as a mini rebuild, a reset or a new era. For one this season is a rejuvenation for a Brooklyn culture that for the last few seasons has been under immense scrutiny and disorganization….
Coming into this season now Brooklyn has a new core of Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton who along with other vets Dorian Finney Smith Royce o Neale Spencer dinwiddie Dennis Smith Jr Lonnie Walker lV and a returning Ben Simmons which could make a great defensive squad….
More importantly a lot of these new players each have something to prove and want to play at a high level 🔥….
Also we all need to look at the Damian Lillard trade sweepstakes where Miami and Portland can't come to a agreement because Miami lack of draft picks….
Brooklyn has the draft capital and expiring contracts to acquire Tyler Herro who can add a great offensive spark and form a solid duo with Mikal Bridges 🔥… More importantly a core four of Mikal Bridges Tyler Herro Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton is a solid competitive group that Brooklyn can build their future around going forward. So that situation is still worth monitoring…..
As far as coach Vaughn goes people quickly forget he was instrumental in bringing some much needed stability back after coach Nash was fired and he actually got Kevin Durant Kyrie Irving Ben Simmons and others to play great basketball where they want on a 12-0 winning streak 🔥. Even through the ultimate rebuild he did his absolute best to keep the new main core strong to finish the season and it will be great to see how coach Vaughn evolves his principles this season and rallying this group together…..
Brooklyn is gonna finish the season a 5th seed I’m calling it…I got little faith in Ben but the hope that he’s even 85% of what he was in Philly, but as far as Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson is concerned we gonna be good. Finney Smith and Smith Jr, Lonnie Walker, Royce, like we got some good fucking depth. BUT Nic Claxton?? He’s gonna be DPOY this year and our anchor. I hope Harry Giles can be a good back up big because we lacked that size last year

If Ben shows he’s Philly Ben again the Nets should trade Claxton for a stretch big immediately! Ben avg 17 8 and 8 in Philly without a jumper along side Embid who consistently clogged the paint. That tells me if u have a big like Kristaps P or Myles Turner on the court with him he can easily avg a 20point triple double

Im still confused how Simmons is healthy & having this great offseason & looking explosive but yet hasnt been cleared to play 3 on 3 in practice because of his back injury. How can both be true?
The two guys I really will be looking for high expectation on is first cam Johnson, because of the contract. He needs to show that he can be a consistent scorer for the Nets and his inconsistency during FIBa gives me a little bit of pause. Marks has just not been very successful when he has given these big contracts to three d wings and I hope Cam can break that trend. People seem to remember the Sixers series which pretty much sealed him getting a big contract, but I’m also remembering before the playoffs where cam Johnson was really inconsistent in his productivity for the Nets at the end of the season. He needs to be more than that.
The other guy I am really excited about is Claxton. If the nets truly takeoff the training wheels and let this guy be a play maker on the offensive end, I believe his ceiling is the highest on the team. I wanna see him taking three three-pointers a game. Because if Claxton can give you a couple of jump shots a game I think that really goes along way in seeing if a Claxton Ben Simmons combo can work because I don’t think Ben Simmons will be doing any shooting from the perimeter and you’re gonna need that spacing. It’s going to be really difficult to have two guys on the court in the fourth quarter that don’t take perimeter shots and are poor from the free throw line. My money is on Clax because I do believe he has that fire to work on the things that he needs to work on.
I just caught that at the end Doug said Atkinson shouldn’t have been fired. Wow. Listen the Nash hiring was really bad but that doesn’t mean Atkinson should’ve been fired. Atkinson was a very rigid coach, who clearly did not connect well with star players. and let’s be honest for a guy who everyone gives all the credit he hasn’t gotten a head Coaching job yet since. His rotations were terrible worse than JV. In the modern nba you can’t have a coach that runs things like it’s a college program. The problem was that when they fired Ackinson they went pretty much the complete opposite and that was the mistake. Outside of the controversy, the guy that they should’ve hired and not allowed to walk to Boston was Udoka.
I think from a perspective as a Simmons fan is it might take a few weeks,But 😄 if he stays healthy then get ready for some special highlight and enjoy 👍
Fun fact:Ben and a Embiid less team had the best home court W's in the history of its franchise 🤔
Ben fans are delusional I am so nervous I hope Ben Simmons excels this year
