With fiba rules, team execution is the key. You have to adapt to the opponents' strengths and attack their weaknesses. Just check the 2nd half highlights of Andreas Obst, Germany was running the same play over and over again, with no response from the USA coaches; just bad preparation and not good enough direction from the bench.
FIBA = team basketball, and this includes adjusting your defence when a specific situation is destroying you. Disrespect? maybe, overconfidence? sure there was. Check Andreas Obst numbers to see the result.
This is not 1992 on both sides. We're not as good, and the world is better.
Basketball is becoming more worldwide.
International teams & player are becoming more powerful/skilled.
USA is no longer the most powerful in the nation. This FIBA World Cup should encourage more of the superstar players to compete going forward.
Just a quick reminder that you all also lost to a C team of lithuania with your C team. So yeah… Lithuania always been a threat internationally and you should know that from experience.

When we lost in the biggest basketball tournament in the world with 32 teams, we decide to bring the best players to the smaller tournament , the olympics with 12 teams and some of them very week like South Sudn and Japan.
The World Cup iswhere the best players should be. It is the prestige tournament.
The Olympics is not that important in the basketball world.
