Lakers Odd Men Out

Lakers have a ridiculous deep roster with plenty of depth, size and talent. With that comes with figuring out which players will play a majority of the minutes for Lakers nation. This also means some Lakers News of odd men out.

  1. Regardless of politics/paygrade, I have 2 starting lineups in mind:

    DLo AR Vando Bron AD
    Or
    Gabe AR Rui Bron AD

That would balance offense & defense.
Im not starting Wood either way unless Lebron is out.

    Bench:
    Gabe Max Prince Rui Wood
    Cam & Hayes
    Or
    DLo Max Prince Vando Wood
    Cam & Hayes

These lineups will give Christian Wood freedom on offense.

But what i like the most if DLo wouldnt mind playing off the bench…

    DLo Max Prince Vando Wood.
DLo Wood & Prince would be their offense while Max & Vando would be their defense.
Hayes can be in there too replacing Vando for big lineup matchups. And Cam for Max.

Starters Gabe AR Rui Bron AD.

But to me, if only egos stand aside & everybody healthy, the Lakers would be better to only have 3 players as consistent starting 5. AR Bron & AD.
The last 2 spots can be flexible depending on the matchups.

Example: If they need to defend a PG in the starting lineup, they can start Gabe over Dlo. If its a wing, they can start Vando. If its a sizeable frontcourt, start Bron, Wood & AD.
This team has a ton of flexibility. Can even start Max over AR if the need arises for AR to lead the bench.

The only problem here will be the egos of this 12 man roster where half of them have something to play for a bigger contract.

  2. dlo Rui lebron ad Jaxson probably gonna start. Shooting consistency will be a headache unless we realize trading dlo and starting reaves are the right way to go

  3. You have to remember tho…Vets need to save themselves for the playoffs and so we should let Cam and Christie get good burn in regular season so that we can go into the playoffs as the best and healthiest team….

  4. It has to be Vanderbilt, Cam Reddish and Jax Hayes. Max Christie can defend and shoot, thus he has to play. Same goes for Taurean Prince. The 3 I mentioned either cant shoot at all or are super inconsistent.

  5. Crazy idea what if they really rested lbj and ad and had them at like 25 minutes each a game instead of 30

  6. How about different styles of 5 man crews starting a “arm length DEFENSIVE “ start.. a pro “offensive “ crew…a “small ball” unit.. a “Big front court “ “lob threat “ unit… I don’t envy
    DHam lol

  7. This is a contract year for max Christie he is going to see the floor we aren’t trading max, we are going to see what he is and get him under contract.

  8. Denver plays 3 guys taller than 6’10 Gordon Mpj and jokic, yes it’s posistionless basketball that won a title

  9. Not buying Lebron at 3 gaurding wings at 39 years old. We will see but I see Ad at 5 most of season. Having rui bang with the Bigs to have AD be the roamer. Woods to skinny to do that. Hayes cant shoot.

  10. You made create points about having depth. I think the “odd man” out should the less experienced, but not just completely removed. I think we should run 11 guys, but odd man play ALL OUT during Start of 3 Quarter and Start of 2 Quarter for like 6 mins each quarter. Instant Energy

  11. It's Lebron…if he keeps jacking up 3s while whining if others are missing their shots. And why not restrict minutes on Lebron like 20mins a game is bood for him til playoffs come

  12. You're overthinking the Max Christie thing. All he has to do is be a solid 3 & D guy. Spot up and good defense and from what i've seen in summer league and last season Christie seems up for it.

  13. I think a player like vando has to play 12-15 min a night a person who minimize the other team best player that helps with momentum and runs now ik turean prince is the backup 2 a consistent player and Ik both bigs getting playing time

  14. The odd man out can be critical on the second night of a back-to-back. It looks like Cam will be the odd man out. Up until the trade deadline, they can use him on the second night of back-to-back games. I think the Lakers can make a trade package of Cam Reddish, JHS, and a draft pick and get a valuable role player in return, then sign someone else in the buyout market to fill the roster.

  15. In my opinion
Cam- he's a flop and LA won't change that.
Christie- shouldn't be an odd an out but I fear he will be
JHS- Will be odd man out because he is rookie but I don't think he will ever amount to much anyway (hope I'm wrong)
Jaxson- will get his chance but eventually play himself out of the lineup

I expect Prince to be the new player that impresses the most

  16. The odd man out is obviously D Lo. I'm not going off what happened in the West finals. I'm simply looking at the need of this team. I would honestly move D Lo and Rui for Heild and Turner. You get your sharp shooter in Heild that the Lakers don't have right now and a promising big in Turner that you always wanted and you can throw at Jokic and can start next to AD.

  17. They’re gonna Lonnie walker someone, basically there’s gonna be parts of the season where u don’t see a good player playing

  18. Lakers defense/offense gonna be even better I just hope LeBron still has a year left of avg 20+ points efficiently. Plus reaves increased confidence from team USA hope he avg 20+ this year.

  19. I'm not sure who the odd man out will be. However, AD saying he doesn't want to play center is a cluster f**k that will cause negative repercussions down the line. The truth is, all of the best Laker lineups, especially defensively, involve AD at the 5 and LeBron at the 4. Does this mean that AD needs to play center 99% of the time like he did last year? Certainly not, but he will have to play a significant chunk of time there, including to start and end games, in my opinion.
