I'm willing to give Homles a chance to prove himself before trading for anyone.
Mavs aren’t trading for anyone they “think” they addressed the center position already they live and die by center committee. They also don’t want to go into the tax next season. Once Mavs fans realize Cuban is cheap and hasn’t been over the tax line since 2011 and he won’t go over it. Mavs fans need to wake up and realize we won’t win a championship if Cuban doesn’t pay the tax you are literally handicapping yourself as a roster. New CBA also allows them to extend Josh and not pay tax on his salary so he won’t be traded. This is the roster we are stuck with unfortunately and I’m glad Mavs podcast and realistic Mavs fans are realizing this team is still not a contender. If I’m the Mavs I’m doing whatever to trade for Ayton and if you can’t get him you trade for Capella and Bogdan from the Hawks so we know we have a legit proven 3rd scoring option off the bench.
If they trade Green than they might have no playable player that can guard the other teams point of attack guards. Thinking a SF/PF 24th pick rookie is going to guard the allstar point guards is not gonna happen. I'm not sure Green can do it. But with Doedoe and Bullock gone. There is no other real option.
So again. You would be creating a giant hole on the team by fixing the current starting center situation. Probably is they don't have a bunch of back ups who can legit replace Green like they do at the 5. So you fix a Not Good situation by creating a Terrible situation.
And the whole idea of getting a stop gap center is to compete for championships while Lively hopefully develops. This is a one step forward, two steps back deal.
