“Upon arrival officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain to her neck,” the spokesperson said. “A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck.”

    From NBC:

    >His girlfriend was taken to the hospital with at least one broken bone and bruising, law enforcement officials told NBC New York. . . . Porter Jr. was charged with second-degree assault and strangulation.

NY law for strangulation in the second degree:

    > A person is guilty of strangulation in the second degree when he or she commits the crime of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, as defined in section 121.11 of this article, and thereby causes stupor, loss of consciousness for any period of time, or any other physical injury or impairment.

The Rockets have the weirdest group ever. This guy, FVV, Dillon Brooks, Ime Udoka, Boban. We need a Hard Knocks but for NBA.

  4. junkit33

How many chances is this guy going to get? He clearly can’t stay out of trouble.

  5. BallIsKindaLife

We knew he had anger problems when he had a meltdown about the locker problem during his Cavs tenure. I’m not the least surprised about this. He done

Talk about a scumbag of a human being.

He is just unlucky he plays in the NBA, if he was in the NFL they would run him on advertisements and talk about how great he was despite how he beats women. Ask Tyweak Hill!

  9. GregorTomato

Dude had essentially infinite money and support and never put it to good use. What a piece of shit.

  10. ephemeralfugitive

can strangulation be considered attempted murder?

  11. ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

How hard is it to not be a POS.

If you are angry at someone, leave. Or tell them to leave.

  12. horeaheka

If the police report is accurate then he will be going to jail

  13. Into_Intoxication

This is exactly why the Rockets had a billion options in his contract. They were 99% certain this was going to happen at some point. Good move by them. This dude is done, he is not good enough for someone with his off the court issues.

  14. Not good. And with his history, I don’t think he is going to get the benefit of the doubt here.

  15. Im_so_a_line

Ended his career and a chance at generational wealth. Trash human being.

  16. dr-freddy-112

He’ll be playing overseas within 2 years.

  17. String_Gloomy_JR

“He’s done” no he’s not, he ‘ll get a slap on the wrist and everyone will forget about this in 1 week

Strangulation is a **huge** determinant of the worst of the worst when it comes to domestic abusers.

    > Prior non-fatal strangulation was associated with greater than six-fold odds of becoming an attempted homicide, and over seven-fold odds of becoming a completed homicide.

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2573025/

  19. Blue_Lou_Boyle

Interesting tidbit: the victim’s sister was Dwayne Haskins’ wife (and had some domestic violence issues as well)

  20. ZandrickEllison

He has a non guaranteed contract for a reason.

  21. cooldudeman007

Fucks sake, get him out the league

  22. BlaqShogunCowboy

Get this sack of shit out of the league ASAP.

  23. eramthgin007

Wow, what a POS. Hope the woman is ok.

Maybe we can finally get rid of his stupid contract, silver lining.

  24. atoastypancake
