[Youngmisuk] When Draymond Green heard from the Warriors that they were considering adding Chris Paul, the team’s emotional leader admitted he wasn’t thrilled. But now he’s turned over a new leaf: “My goal is that we can help Chris Paul get his first championship.”

> There are hurdles that can stop the Warriors. While Curry can still play at an MVP level and Thompson is determined to return to his pre-injury form, Green knows much will be riding on his shoulders. He wants to make amends for last season’s failure, which he knows he played a part in when the Poole punch fractured team chemistry. And the fiery forward has to put any past bitterness between him and Paul behind them to get the Warriors back to the top.

> “I look at this as one of the most important years of my career,” said Green, who is entering his 12th season. “… It’s not to redeem anything about Draymond. My goal is that we can help Chris Paul get his first championship.”

> WHEN GREEN HEARD from the Warriors that they were considering adding Paul, the team’s emotional leader admitted he wasn’t thrilled. He needed time to wrap his mind around the possibility of teaming up with a “hated” foe.

> If anyone could get under Green’s skin, it was the 6-foot point guard, who has described himself as a “sworn enemy” of the Warriors. Paul helped the LA Clippers knock the Warriors out of the first round in seven games in 2014, leading to Kerr’s hiring the following season. And Paul and the Houston Rockets had the Warriors down 3-2 in the 2018 Western Conference finals before the point guard missed the last two games because of injury. Asked on a scale of one to 10 how much he previously despised Paul, Green interrupted.

> The Warriors are hoping Paul provides them with the same boost he has given to all his new teams in the first season — an increase in wins. In his first season in Phoenix in 2020-21, the point guard assisted a turnaround that saw the Suns go from 34 wins the season before to the NBA Finals.

  1. Cp3 injury in the reason gsw has a couple more rings. Dray should be licking cp3s feet

Draymond Green headline? Be right back, grabbing some popcorn.

I think they’re gonna give him bench minutes and trade him at the deadline to a non-contender. That whole squad doesn’t like this dude, and this one is gonna be petty.

Rajon Rondo once said “Everyone wants to believe Chris Paul is a good guy. They don’t know he’s a horrible teammate. They don’t know how he treats people. Look at what he did last year when he was in LA; trying to get to the Clippers locker room. They don’t want to believe he’s capable of taunting and igniting an incident.”

I used this quote because Rondo isn’t a trash-talker but here he is anyway. NOBODY likes CP3 and I think this is a little payback

If you think this is more than a subtle dig that Paul has 0 rings you are misjudging Green.

“Emotional leader”? Draymond is maybe the first player I think of if someone says “emotionally unstable”.

When a bus rider act like he’s a bus driver.

  7. Doncicfuturegoat

I believe Durant said those exact same words last season when he was traded to Phoenix, but Cp3 curse is just too strong

As much as I love CP3, I hope that never happens while he’s at GS.

  9. rice_bledsoe

i love that there’s this assumption that “everyone hates chris paul” even though he’s a large part of the reason the player empowerment era exists, and his absence from the NBPA is the reason why the players got turned over on the new CBA

This is the first time CP3 is going into a situation as kind of a support role player. With Houston and the Clippers he was seen as a missing piece to true title contention, as well as with Phoenix.

Golden State already has their core. He’s coming in with the hope he can stabilize their second unit among other reasons. How does he adjust to being more of a support player. That to me is going to be very interesting to follow initially….he and Dray will be fine, they’re professionals. Dray is one of those guys who you hate playing against and if your Poole, playing with, but otherwise, you love being his teammate because he’s gonna put you in a good position to succeed and he’s a true gamer and winner.

I think this is more “My goal is to help Steph get number 5” without potentially upsetting Rich Paul and LeBestfriend

  12. Agile-Entertainer270

Lol damn that’s cold Dray. Locker room drama already!

  13. MidThoughts-5

Warriors ain’t doing shit. Cp3 is Kryptonite.

  18. PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

Dr Green trying to help his patient get over his addiction.

  19. WeeWoooFashion

Draymonds the undisputed lockerroom cancer goat💀🥵

  20. hollywoodhulkhogann

Warriors are definitely going to match up against the Lakers again in the playoffs.. ideally the WCF. Going to be absolute cinema

  21. dBlock845

They probably will get caught arguing in game or on the sidelines within the first two weeks.

  22. Neinhaltt

Reminds me of when Shaq signed with the Cavs because he wants to get Lebron a ring.

  23. Bot_Name1

Draymond is such a classy and selfless guy trying to get Chris Paul his first ring

  24. Fluffy_Vacation1332

I can’t be the only one who immediately thought to themselves “ this is Dude acts, like they are always in the finals, you couldn’t beat the Lakers!”

  25. Gamewiz2x3

Lol how many games you think they’ll have to lose before the drama gets started in earnest? I’m thinking the first time they drop three in a row, the podcasts get spicy

  26. JobRich1277

Maybe it’s because I’ve been on this site too much but this feels condescending lol

  27. BadVladMY

lol…. Draymond subtly kicking CP3’s zero rings.

  28. Honestly this dude might had the most lucky path and ego in the NBA ever.
Probably would be out of the nba already if drafted to another team without greatest shooting back court in the history of the game

  29. Anvil_No26

I like how he made it “we’re helping him” not “he’s helping us” or “we’re here to help each other”

… fuck this is going to be fun.

  30. Am I wrong for not seeing this as a dig, just Green trying to be diplomatic (whether he actually means what he says or not)?

  31. ClutchGamingGuy

    >He wants to make amends for last season’s failure, which he knows he played a part in when the Poole punch fractured team chemistry.

He played a PART in it?? Bro, he punched a fucking teammate.

  32. Patronizing much? Dude talks like he’s multiple tiers better than he is.

  33. santodomingus

They’re gunna have such a cohesive team this season lmao.

  34. SikkoDieri

Not sure why we need to give attention to everything this idiot says just because he can play defence
