The Hayward injury could’ve been talked about much more but the Celtics almost immediately went on a 16 game win streak, had the best record in the NBA, Jayson Tatum was a soaring rookie who had incredible hype and Jaylen Brown was right behind him.
Him falling to injury really opened up a lot of extra minutes for Tatum and Brown that year.

I said something similar to my dad. I know it’s a different sport but my main point to him was them going down in the first game of the season with a new team. We couldn’t think of any other examples.

Len Bias was a much bigger devastating moment for the fanbase. Guy was going to be incredible. Hayward was a bummer, but he alive and was basically replaced by Tatum and Brown.
