This is the best story in sports right now.
Last summer, Dennis Schroder didn’t have an NBA contract. In September ’22, he went into EuroBasket and took down Giannis and Greece in the quarterfinals. After leading Germany to a 3rd place finish, Schroder signed a 1-year, $2.6 million deal with the Lakers.
It wasn’t much, but it was an opportunity.
Schroder played his role to perfection and helped LA reach the Western Conference Finals. Then, this past July, he signed a 2-year, $26 million deal with the Raptors – earning a bigger role and payday on a new team.
Then he played for Team Germany in the FIBA World Cup – and casually did this:
🔸 Averaged 19.1 PPG and 6.1 APG
🔸 Upset win over the US in the semifinal
🔸 Scored 28 to beat Serbia in the gold medal game
🔸 Named to All-Tournament Team
🔸 World Cup MVP
And to think – a year ago today, he didn’t even have an NBA contract. Coming off an injury, no one even wanted to take a chance on him.
Today, he’s a World Cup champion, tournament MVP, and about to head into the ’23-24 season as the Raptors’ starting PG.
Believe in yourself, keep grinding, and the good things will come.
Dennis Schroder is living proof of that.

Yet it’s getting hardly any coverage by the American media. All they want to talk about is LeBron James and how he’s going to save USA basketball at the Olympics.

Plausible rotation for the Raptors:
Dennis/OG/Scottie/Pascal/Jak
bench:
GTJ, Boucher, Precious, Dick
That’s 6/9 international players.
Vision 6’9 lives but has morphed into the Raptors personifying Toronto diversity.
These posts where people assume Dennis is starting are so tiresome and out of touch with the team. We’re all stoked for Dennis to be here, but my god these people are all gonna look so dumb when they have to act shocked he’s not starting.
