For those trying to say the Lakers overpaid on Vando, remember that 4/48 is below the MLE. To me, that’s a great deal and reflects his current defensive ability. If his 3pt % and finishing at the rim see even moderate improvement then the deal is a major bargain.

The bartender asks “Why the long face?” The man replies “I just found out my wife is sleeping with another man. I’ve decided I’m going to drink myself to death.” The bartender looks shocked and says “I’m sorry I can’t help you kill yourself.” The man asks “Well what would you do in my situation?” The bartender puffs himself up a bit and says “If I found out a guy was sleeping with my wife I wouldn’t sit around feeling sorry for myself, I’d kill the guy.” The man jumps up from his stool and shouts “That’s a great idea! Thanks!” and runs out of the bar. A couple hours goes by and the bartender is starting to get nervous when the man walks back into the bar with a smile on his face. “Did you kill the guy?” The bartender asks nervously. “Nope! I slept with your wife. Whiskey please.”
I think people just never adjust to contracts and look at the numbers still thinking it’s 10 years before when this would be a lot more than it is now. In 10 years from now it will be the same thing.
I will never be against the players getting money, as they do the brunt of the work (and are the real draws).
In the end, it’s always a bunch of “suits” who get the real money anyway. And they don’t even do any dribbling.
“Pay the man.”
The people trying to throw shade on this signing are trolls. This is a great deal for both parties.
Personally, I’m happy for him. I think this is a good contract but I kind of wished he did 3 years to bet on himself. How much more of a pay cut can he really take considering your point @ cheaper than MLE a yr and has to live in over priced LA. Let’s go Vando!
I, too, follow [Trevor lane on Twitter](https://x.com/trevor_lane/status/1702690551420571749?s=46&t=chZ4QalgxH8TxBWA8IdURw)
A lot of people forget how big the salary cap is projected to be in 4 years
great regular season piece and with some improvement can get more run during the playoffs depending on matchups.
12 a year for a high energy defensive beast who still has so much growth left in him is beyond a fair deal. He increases his offensive output by a little and it’s a steal.
I thought it was cheap for a defensive wing. Wings go for a lot of money these days
Honestly I hope they put bonus clauses like in his old deal for 3 point improvement
If the Spurs got him for that, everyone would be praising it. Only thing that makes it questionable to people is the “I Blindly Hate the Lakers” tax that comes with their opinions.
It was a great deal. We can’t look at deals from 5-10 years ago. That’s a great contract I believe
Wow, I remember when the MLE was like 5 or 6 million.
To this day whenever I see 4 & 48, I remember that’s what Steph’s deal was before they brought in Durant.
