Cam Thomas enters a pivotal season for his career this year and there are some bigger expectations on the third-year guard. But is the 6th Man of the Year Award actually in play for him? The Locked on Nets guys take a look at his FanDuel odds for the award and determine if there is a path for him to actually be in the running. It’s an interesting thought experiment around Thomas who’s had incredible games in his time with Brooklyn, but also spent time buried on the bench.
Could he be a microwave scorer off the bench and is this Nets team set up much better for him going into the season?

Hello everyone. First off it's been reported that the Miami Heat and Portland Trailblazers have picked up discussions on the Damian Lillard trade and a multiple team deal is looking very likely….
Ultimately Brooklyn has the draft pick ( Suns 2025 ) and the expiring contracts to acquire Tyler Herro.
A potential core four of Mikal Bridges Tyler Herro Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton could build a solid foundation for Brooklyn's future going forward and give them flexibility with making future moves to improve the club….
What does everyone else think about how this trade will ultimately look?
As far as Cam Thomas goes he needs to establish a consistent role on this team going forward and becoming a potential sixth man off the bench might really help take his game to the next level.
Cam Thomas scoring skills are his major calling card and one area of his game that he needs to work on is being a willing passer and getting his teammates great scoring opportunities as well….
If he can make the necessary improvements he could definitely carve out a sixth man role potentially….
I also think Lonnie Walker lV is a potential sixth man candidate as well considering the improvements hes made on the offensive side of his game and really broke out in the playoffs for the Lakers. It will be fun to see how Walker evolves his game more this year….
They just reported harden might wanna come back 😂
Too many guards or nah?
No
Any decision regarding what Cam Thomas"s role, next season, should be made at the "right" time. Making it before training camp isn't the time. There's something promising about how disciplined and methodical the way the Nets have been in what they're doing after last season. Being strategic and making incremental moves is the new order. Cam Thomas's strength is his offensive game. Unfortunately, without many high volume scorers on the roster, more emphasis is going to be placed on defense and team ball. These are two areas he need to improve in. The next faze is training camp. Lets let it play out and then evaluate. If we don't get enough answers, then the following phase is preseason and hopefully we'll have seen enough to make a decision about, not only Cam Thomas's role but Ben Simmons as well. In the mean time, we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.
There's ALREADY a pattern of consistency with this Organization regarding how they will handled Cam Thomas. The fact that they didn't allow him to play consistent minutes with Bridges pretty much tells you EVERYTHING. They want Bridges to be the the Superstar of this team, and it really wouldn't matter if Bridges goes on a bad streak where he would do poorly offensively- he will the starter and Cam Thomas ( who can score) won't get any meaningful minutes.
To have Thomas in the bench during the Play Offs vs the Sixers 100% pretty much tells you what's going to happen with Thomas. He won't be the 6th man on that roster- not by a long shot he would be that lucky; even if he scores 60 points in a game. The thing is even if this team needs scoring badly- they rather loose than play Cam Thomas- as the Nets vs Sixers CLEARLY showed.
However, the less they play Thomas- the less value he has if they were to trade him. They really shot themselves in the foot, because they know he's really that good and won't get equal value, and since this Organization have failed Thomas ( not the other way around), I don't think Thomas would want to be part of this team in the future.
That stuff about developing Thomas- you know that's NEVER gonna happen, right? Even if he gets much better in defensively- they won't play him. I don't know if all this is because of personal or political reasons- because of the Homo comments- but look for Thomas to be stuck permanently in that bench and getting few minutes; no matter how well he does.
Conclusion: Thomas needs to ask for a trade; regardless of the consequences.. To have Thomas sitting in the bench getting 0 minutes during the Play Offs is probably the biggest insult you could ever give a player that can actually score on a much larger scale than any of his team mates. They made him feel like crap, And as a human being, more than a Net fan, you want him to be free of these Nefarious people that are sabotaging his career.
If the Nets played everything the way they SHOULD, Cam Thomas would lose 6th Man of the Year because he's gonna TAKE Spencer's starting PG position.
I told him that in person.
I expect Marks and Vaughn to screw things up and trade him by the deadline 😔
This will for sure be an interesting training camp in terms of establishing a pecking order.
It’s hard watching a Cam Thomas video on this channel when we all know Doug Norrie wants him Traded, Cut or Benched as soon as possible 😡
Jus because Doug hates Cam Thomas we can’t even get a fair evaluation of Cam on this Channel
The thing with Cam you cant have him on the bench in the 4th quarter if you aint leading hes just that good in the clutch
The way we are constructed he deserves to be our "6th man" & of course we can throw Lonnie in there at times to like split the minutes or w/e works
