I really wanna see the offense run through edwards this year.
He’s so fun to watch and he’s one of the few guys that wanna play or try to play every single night. Hopefully they can trade towns for some complimentary pieces and take a step forward this season 👌🏽🏀
Hey Jason my first time commenting, I hope you haven’t gotten this question too much but why do you think nobody uses the sky hook anymore?
If that’s an obvious question then what changed that made it a shot nobody wants to utilise?
The Gobert trade won’t bring any value unless they trade KAT and start a stretch 4 next to Ruby. Edwards should be having the ball in his hands more so they need more high end role players who can complement ANT and Gobert
I personally think outside of Chet Holmgren I’m very excited for Anthony Edwards
Ant is the best combination the league has of talent and personality. They don't seem to quit realize it yet, but they will.
No one mentions the Wolves in the Nuggets championship run but they were arguably the toughest team the Nuggets played. Even Bruce Brown said it. Just because they were an 8 seed the Nuggets get no credit for beating them yet those same people consider the 8 seed Heat one of the best teams in the league.
I see what you are saying about trading KAT, but how will they replace a guy who is a consistent 20 and 10 player.
Best basketball analysis out right now. This is awesome
Mailbag Question: Who do you think would have won between the Rockets and the Cavs in the 2018 finals if the Rockets won Game 7 instead of the Warriors and how Harden and CP3’s legacy would be looked at differently if they won or if LeBron won.
Mailbag question: which team is more likely to blow up their roster next season?
Gobert is so unfairly criticized, it's not his fault people expect more out of him than his role allows him to. He does the job what he is supposed to do, which is rim protection almost perfectly
“They lost Austin Reeves.” Austin Rivers*
It feels like they should be a little higher. I really like there lineup both with and without Kat. As you suggested, if they can move Kat for a good forward / wing, I think they might be a long shot contender this year.
Hey Jason Love the channel. Ive got a Mailbag question, and wanted your opinion on it.
Thought about the mid season tourney alot and i have a idea on how it could work, gearing it towards the bottom tier teams in the league with a texas hold em style. Twelve teams put in bids to play in the tournament highest bids have the highest seeding. There are three prizes the team that wins can get 1. Higher probability in that years draft automatic top 3 protection with a chance of winning 1st overall 2. Winner takes the pot and can use it how they choose 3. Ability to rollover money into cap into next season. Runner up gets to pick whats left and the third best team gets the last remaining option.
Abolishing all star weekend and time slotting it for that full week or two in Feb. for the tournament.
Teams with a championship window that have a shot at competitive playoff basketball get time off and rest and it gives lower/middle of pack teams more exposure and more money for attendance, TV ratings etc. and its gaureented high pressure high performance basketball thats meaningful and forces teams to be competitive instead of tanking rewarding performance.
If you could run a 5v5 with any players in nba history who would you pick to be on your team and who would you pick to play against?
We have the main pieces to be a great team. Obviously ant but I’m more talking about McDaniels. He’s quickly developing into a legit 3rd option and if we can ship off Kat or Rudy (I think both being gone would be best personally) and get some added pg and wing depth we can really start to build around ant. I like Kat but u can’t have him on the same team with a dog like ant. He doesn’t have the mentality for it
I love ant. His athleticism and attitude are amazing but I think he’s becoming overrated. I can see him being a top 10 player at some point but best in the league is a STRETCH. These are my reasons all of which are rly tough to improve upon.
1. He doesn’t have great size. When was the last time a guy under 6’6 was the best player in the league – it’s debatable that steph was for maybe 1 szn which is an anomaly if you look back 30 years.
2. Overrrated scoring threat. He’s athletic but doesn’t rly have the size or wiggle to get rly easy looks consistently at volume. He’s also not the kind of tough shot maker than can overcome that.
3. He’s not that cerebral of a player. I’m sure he’ll improve his bball iq but some guys have a gift for reading the game n he is not one of them. Some guys are solid but become rly good. I’d argue ant is below average and can wrk his way to solid/above average
Between the romanticism of being the best player on team USA (regardless of how terrible they were) and ppl loving his alpha dog mentality his narrative I think has gotten out of hand.
KAT for Pascal? Who says no first ?
Drive, Rudy Gobert help, kick out, wide open 3, and Terrance Mann's looking like Klay Thompson all of a sudden! 🤣
You always hear players who play for USA in the summer take their game to the next level in the next season. Can you give examples of players who took the jump after playing USA basketball?
MAILBAG: How would you feel about a Kat-Dame trade?
The prototypical pg is not dead! You have to be able to iso beat switches n operate in pnr – essentially be a scoring threat. However all the guys he mentioned in the question WERE. Nash cp3 Kidd n rondo all got buckets. Rondo who was the worst of the group off ball wasn’t terrible off ball. He added value being good cutter and screener w/o the ball in his hands. What defined them was the fact they made decisions w the idea to get the best shot possible for the team and not just for them. They also quarterbacked most offensive possessions and in that way they were also heliocentric. Also none of the guys he mentioned were in the best player in the league convos. Rondo wasn’t even top3 on his own team but they were all-stars and apart of the group of the best players in the league. The top 5 best players in the league back then also averaged 25+ ppg. That’s not new.
I think we saw other positions take on floor general roles for ex. Jokic lebron draymond etc. in a positionless league that skillset comes in all shapes in sizes.
But I do think floor general guards are making a come back bc ppl like Jason are starting to realize it’s hard to win with a small heliocentric scoring guard. Teams are starting to move in a different direction. look at haliburton. Every1 loves him. they know he’s not a #1 option but he is their floor general. Brunson is similar. He scores more but he’s a team first guy. I think guys like cade, fultz, amen Thompson, Anthony black are the new are the new archetype. Big, two-way floor generals who can get their own but think team first n also play well off ball. Better dwhite / if Ben Simmons developed like we all hoped vibes.
