I thought it was an interesting perspective on the whole “ring culture” as he describes it. Very self aware for basically saying he should be in the hall of very good

  2. ImGonnaObamaYou

He won a fmvp over curry. So neither is curry

  3. QuePasa007

He just keeping it real with himself šŸ’Æ

  4. PeanutButtaRari

Itā€™s okay because heā€™s the PROTECTOR OF THE EARTH I WANT IGUODALA

  5. The basketball hall of fame is essentially the Hall of very good the standards arenā€™t that high.

  6. AntwaanKumiyaa

Honestly, I donā€™t see why not considering they let every person who knows how to dribble a basketball in.

  7. lemonpepperlarry

I agree, but considering thereā€™s a lot of people in the hall that have careers that are only on par with his makes me think he should get in for consistency sake

  8. He’s right. He doesn’t have a Hall of Fame career. But I do agree with him about the Hall of Fame having tiers or wings. I think that would help separate some of the older generations with the modern ones, without losing the respect for them.

  9. Jay_Shadow

He’s a human, he’s clearly not a Hall of Fame.

  10. Comfortable-Win-5604

Iā€™d put Iggy in the HOF over Lowry

  11. EatFoodShitPant

he has as many FMVPs as curry, i don’t see why he shouldn’t be in

  12. iCE_P0W3R

    I donā€™t think heā€™s a Hall of Fame either, heā€™s a person.

  13. larrylegend1990

Basketball hof is ridiculously easy to get in.

How many FMVP isnā€™t in the HoF?

  14. Jonesbro

He’ll get in after the aliens invade and point the death beam at us.

  15. Joetheshow1

No shit he’s not, I’m astounded by all these people who think he is or should even be considered for it

  16. JoeDudden

Heā€™s right because rings donā€™t guarantee a spot in the HoF. Ask Robert Horry šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø Iggy had a fantastic career & he can look proudly at what he accomplished. That might be good enough for him.

  17. Markel100

He still gonna get in due to the weak class

  18. Shenanigans80h

I mean why would he be? Heā€™s a one time all star, made the all defense team twice, and never had any international accolades either. Like the only possible argument would be his FMVP and contributions to the Warriors rings, but even then, thatā€™s a monumental stretch

  19. elxhapo

In the terms of ability I donā€™t think he is but ring culture is how the nba awards greatness itā€™s the only reason players like Derek fisher and Robert horry or even relevant to the common fan iggy won a finals mvp also I think that alone means the most.

  20. here_for_the_lols

    He’s not a half of fame he’s a person

  21. BrolysFavoriteNephew

Tells me he doesn’t believe he deserved that FMVP

  22. Randyfreakingmarsh

Heā€™s not lol this is not controversial in the slightest

  23. buffalotrace

Heā€™s not. He was a good but not great player in his prime who became a good role player.

  24. LotusProxy

always found it weird how people take it upon themselves the be the ultimate HoF decider for these athletes. HoF means nothing to us, why care. Put Horry, Fisher, Iggy in there. They impacted the sport historically and will be remembered forever

  25. Low-iq-haikou

He really shouldnā€™t be. Wouldnā€™t be one in any other sport. But itā€™s the NBA so he might be.

And I like Iggy, I donā€™t say that out of disrespect at all. Heā€™s just more of a Hall of Very Good guy.

  26. EdoubleYT

    Well thatā€™s because he ainā€™t.

  27. Dangerousrhymes

Heā€™s right, heā€™s a person, not an institution to memorialize greatness in a field.

  28. IlonggoProgrammer

Man, Iā€™ve made the case before, now I feel kinda dumb. Obviously I always thought it was a fringe case, but if KC Jones is in the Hall (yes, heā€™s in as a player but NOT as a coach somehow), I figured Iggy would eventually get in.

4x champ with 3 of them as a de facto starter (he was the 6th man but the Death Lineup/Hamptons 5 was their real lineup), Finals MVP (even if most people think Bron or Curry deserved it), Olympic Gold medalist, All-Star, 2x All-defense (1 first team) is a really good resume. Thatā€™s better than a number of HOFers. He was also part of the greatest 5 man lineup in the history of basketball, and even if he was the 5th guy in that lineup that should count for something.

But also at least heā€™s humble about it too.

Wouldn’t surprise me either way tbh. Tony Parker just got in off of rings this past year. Vlade was inducted a few years back with similar individual accolades.

Teams going on a tear like the Warriors tends to get otherwise fringe guys in. Klay is probably going in despite only having a few good years during the W’s run. Iggy doesn’t have a shot without the rings and FMVP, but since those count for so much with voters he has a decent shot.
