  1. That Miami team was the 2nd most ridiculous cheating line-up a hair under the warriors in NBA history. At the time it was probably Lebron as best player in the world dwight 2nd and wade 3rd. Bosh was probably top 15. The vets on that team was also pretty sick. it wasn't that they revolutionize the strategy. It is they are forced to play an inferior way because Lebron's game has a glaring hole where they had to get rid of their center to give him space. In 2011 there were no post up big in the east. KG was having his will down low against Miami in the playoffs and KG was not even known for his post-ups. Imagine if they had to go against gasol bynum a few years earlier, or a younger duncan(not that they can beat 37 year old Duncan. How about Shaq, Hakeem, even Barkley would've been a problem. Lebron is very lucky that the game has evolved just at the right time for him to not have to play against great centers. Even now, who is going to guard Joker's post-ups on that miami team? Joel Anthony, haslem, old big Z, bosh, oh i know eric dampier.

  2. If anybody deserves the credit its Don' Nelson wherever he's coached and those Steve Nash teams in Phoenix. Small ball is a Don Nelson creation. He just didn't have the players like LBJ and Wade. But it's nothing new.

  3. He’s 100% right, Bron was the precursor to the modern nba.
Honestly, can you even be surprised by this? History shows that the best methods to win get adopted, this guy has made more playoff runs than anybody, of course other teams saw what he did and adopted it to their style. I always said Draymond Green is a Lebron-lite, lol, he doesn’t have the same amount of gravity and offensive force but the positioning is all there. Warriors are just a team focused on the shooting prowess of curry and thompson so you don’t see it right away but it’s all there.

  4. These dudes literally discuss ALLLL the other teams who used small ball effectively FIRST, then they move to credit Bron for “revolutionizing” NBA offenses? “Bag of Dax don’t make no sense.” -Mookie, Uncle Drew

  5. I'm sorry to say this like MJ has to be in every conversation. But all teams had dominant bigs who won championships, that was the culture. Inside out basketball. But MJ and Pippen with the latter innovating the Small Forward position were the definition of small ball. You could argue the Pistons with Thomas were small ball but he had a lot of big bullies. So for pure basketball with MJ, Pippen, Rodman, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Paxon and either Toni Kukoc or Horace Grant being the most talented "bigs" that MJ played with at Small Forward/Power Forward. Luc Longley and Bill Cartwright are nothing to get excited about. Bulls revolutionised the 90's away from centre focussed basketball until Shaq dominated everything once everyone retired. We didn't have another golden age of centres until Giannis, Jokic etc turned up. 2000's were a golden era for Shooting Guards getting bigger, stronger and turning into Small Forwards (TMac is 6ft9 without shoes bare minimum).Right now the shooting guard and point guard is almost discernible. Demar DeRozan went next level learning to break double teams and pass infinitely better making him become an All NBA player again. Devin Booker upgraded his game into All NBA status by… being a protege to Chris Paul. Look at the effect Chris Paul had Shai Gilgeous Alexander. It's getting closer and closer to position-less basketball as the talent increases internationally. So the last 10 years was dominated by Lebron and Steph Curry and as a result Unicorns and a golden age for short point guards has well arrived. As time goes on it'll be IQ and play reading that is the difference between winning or not. Play by play chess.

  6. So no mention of the 2014 Spurs that destroyed that Heat team?? The 2015 Warriors copied their formula

  7. Bron and Wade surrounded by shooters wow what a concept

  8. Was D Wade not a shooter though? I know he wasn’t a three point shooter and when he first came in the league he wasn’t even a midrange shooter, but by year 3, the guy was deadly from the midrange and well as slashing to the rim. I think a better way to say it is that he wasn’t a long range shooter.

  9. yep. Was very effective in the finals against okc. that Chalmers, Wade, Battier, Bron, Bosh was deadly to the thunder. Then against SA in the 4th when it was Chalmers, Allen, Mike Miller, Bron and Bird.

  10. "revolutionizing". cool term for combining 2 of the 3 best players in the world at the time and a top 15 player in Bosch. Such a dumb take.

  11. I was NBA bound until them Sebring Lightning bolt boys took out my knees in the Heartland Championship game of the 7th grade Junior high school round of 64 in 1997. Them good ole days as the running back for them Hardee Junior High Wildcats.

  12. Such a trash way to play. Everything geared towards helping Bron pad stats. Everyone stands at the 3 and all he does is drive and kick. Bro game is so basic that's why they lost to the warriors the first time. There are multiple variations of this style with Harden, Doncic, Russ. Big ball dominant pg's that can't play off ball or in a system. Kobe even said Harden wouldn't win that way, but Bron had more help that it worked for a couple seasons. Andre reluctantly gave up Brons weakness. He doesn't play well with mid range shooters.

  13. I agree. Heat big three were the one of the first teams which revolutionized the small ball

  14. I think CP3 and Tyson Chandler revolutionized the Pick and Roll because they were the first to do the alley oop consistently off that play.

  15. I got to appreciate when my miami gets some kind of recognition, cuz it’s such rare to see moments like this.

  16. Heat didn’t change anything, get outta here:) small ball lineups been tried forever. Heat were just stacked with players
