And now I’m sad because no more Winning Time on Sunday nights.

It’s a shame the lakers didn’t keep Jerry in the Org

On offense, West was the Steph Curry of his day, with a deadly outside shot and a knack for drawing fouls. But he was also great on defense, only 6’3” but with a 6’9” wingspan. He only made five All-Defensive Teams (one second team and four first teams), but that’s because the All-Defensive Team didn’t exist until the last six years of his career, when he was in his 30s.
In his last season, at age 36, West playing only 31 games due to a strained groin. But he was still credited with 2.6 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, two newly introduced statistics. And he still made the All-Star Team.

Love Jerry West. His book is also a great read, can’t recommend it enough.

damn, none of those plumbers could defend that boy!!

Playing in an era with much stricter rules on traveling and carrying violations. Look at how fluid he was. Footwork, movement, quick release and anticipation. He was a better pure athlete than Steph. Taller, faster, longer wingspan and even a better passer. He was a complete player on both ends of the court. Shooting, dribbling, passing, finishing in the paint, lateral agility on defense, quick hands in the passing lanes, chase down block shots etc What a talent! Dudes game would have translated perfectly to any era in NBA history. Also with the three point line added to the game, he would be even more dangerous.

Crazy how much Jerry West game is influential in todays game. His movement and jump shot reminds me a lot of Booker.

Jerry West would meditate before every game by drinking two gallons of milk, sniffing glue, and organize his stamp collection while listening to Miles Davis. After every game he would fill his bathtub with marinara sauce, get in and pretend he was a meatball.

I’d love to see the full game against the Knicks on 17 Jan 1962 where he scored 63 points.

Really cool highlights. He would dominate the CBL today.

If the dribble seems funny, or just less cool, please remember that this is before players could dribble the ball with their hand anywhere near the side, it was either on top top or a turnover. Shorter strides, no crossovers, no hesitations. The modern dribble moves are still some time away.

Honestly, that was the lamest Mixtape I have ever seen. Just jumper and easy passes. But since it’s West we will suck him off.
Maybe some of these people who downvote can tell me which of these plays left you in awe?

Mr Clutch!

Really makes you wonder how much higher up on the all-time scoring list he’d be if they had the 3pt line. He shot a big volume from what we’d consider “long-2” range, and I have a feeling a couple steps back wouldn’t phase him one bit
jaxs_sax
He’s lucky he didn’t play when JJ Redick played or Redick would’ve locked him up 🤣

Shoots like Steph, big like Klay
