After Mikal Bridges, The Nets Could Have A Major Shooting Guard Problem This Season

The Nets going into this season with a possible looming problem in the shooting department when looking at the whole roster. While Mikal Bridges will likely start at the nominal two-guard position for the team, it remains to be seen what kind of offensive punch they will get behind him.

With Joe Harris and Seth Curry out in the off-season, the Nets lost two of their best long-range shooters. And though the Locked on Nets guys like the moves Sean Marks made, none of them were major upgrades in the shooting department.

This could end up being an issue for the Nets this season and the three-point shooting in general could be well below league average.

  1. After the "big three" trades, last season, the Nets became an assorted mixture of spare parts from different teams. We hired a new coach, in Jacque Vaughn, and he road out the season with the previous head coach's (Steve Nash) assistant coaches. We made the playoffs, in spite of those setbacks. Mikal Bridges excelled, Spence Dinwiddie had one of the best seasons of his career, and Jacque Vaughn received a coach of the month recognition. In the new season, we'll have the benefit of a fresh start that entails JV's hand picked assistants in place, draft picks/acquisitions made, training camp, and preseason games on the docket. It stands to reason that the Nets will get off to a good start because the good chemistry that began, in the final third of the season. We'll build on that going into the new season. Hopefully, there wont be any more changes made before the season began. I like this roster as it presently stand. We shouldn't rush the process of building this team.

  2. I'm sure Jacque Vaughn is going to put more emphasis on team ball, defense, rebounding, and development of our young players. Offense come as a result of accomplishing these things first. My compliments to Sean Marks for not making any impulsive trades. Most teams thrive after stability is established. I expect that from the Nets in the upcoming season. It takes an unpredictable amount of time to build a title contender. Not rushing the process by thinking we could improve the team with constant changes to the roster will bring about team cohesion. Patience is paramount.
