It aligns with the reporting out of Miami that they are: a) comfortable with their roster, b) like their young talent and c) aren’t willing to gut their roster for Lillard. Willing to wait for another superstar to become available.
All reporting from a few months ago had the Heat reluctant to include Jovic and very reluctant to include Martin in trade talks. Since Miami and Portland aren’t really in contact we can’t know what Miami would be willing to put on the table now but at least we have a rough indication of what they did in the summer now.
The Heat aren’t desperate for Dame. I kinda feel they still end up with Dame. But they’re not banging the doors down for him. And that’s fair.

I think this is Dame’s camp putting pressure on the Heat via Spears (who is close to his camp). He also tweeted that if Dame were moved to toronto he would report and play.
