Mavs head coach Jason Kidd on the rookies Dallas took in the 2023 NBA Draft:
“They’ve done everything we’ve asked them to do. Each week they get better. So we’re excited. I look for those rookies to play a lot this season. They’re going to be a part of our fabric. There could be a chance of one of them starting. So, we’ll see. I’ve talked to the coaching staff and (Mavericks general manager) Nico (Harrison) about starting Lively with Luka and Kai (Kyrie Irving) and Grant (Williams. We’ll see how that goes.”

Hey guys I listen to you guys all the time but Sacramento is a terrible franchise they kill careers , Holmes is not a bad player at all I feel like you guys are talking to down on him. I def would like to start lively purely for development purposes but not to many teams have a quality center that Holmes is he still 29 as long as they don’t start Powell who is pure garbage I can’t stand Powell he’s so trash and tbh he shouldn’t be on a roster he does absolutely nothing for the team .

I would like to see Lively focus on defense, especially around the rim, rebounding and setting screens right now. I don't think we need him offensively except for the occasional put back or alley-oop off of pick and roll.
If Tim wins 6th man the Mavs will be playing as a contender
I would put dereck in the starting line up for the mavericks in pre season games
Don't believe what Kidd is saying, judge him by his past coaching. Smoke to cover up management for not doing and filling the first glaring hole they stated they need, a quality starting center. Had a chance at Capala & Ayton but dropped the ball because they believe Hardy & Green are better???? Really? Williams was not a top 5 opition in Boston but the Mavs say he's clearly part of the Big 3?? Won't surprise me if Omax is better by 1st of the year. Only chance they have is for Luka & Irving to have the best years of their careers and to both stay healthy and play 65 to 70 games each. Go Big or Go Home. Hope Lively can give us 25 mins of quality ball. Time will tell. Go Mavs.
