Casey Smith was probably one of the last loyal holdouts of Donnie Nelsons past regime on the front office so Nico sorta gave him the axe. The Mavs were run like an informal family bussiness under Donney and Casey Smith seemed to have too much influence for just being the team doctor so Nico trimmed that off a little bit.
