[Helin] Let me just say what I have heard Barnes is not available. Portland fans love the idea of landing him but I’ve been told by multiple people it’s not that he was taken off the table, he was never in the same room as the table.

Good. I know some will disagree, but I think trading Barnes for Dame is a bad move. We should be able to get him cheaper based on Miami’s rumoured offer and we could always trade Barnes down the line for another compete piece if he doesn’t elevate his game quick enough and/or we are looking close to being top contenders
Did anyone check the lounge though? Pretty sure I saw Colonel Mustard in there, with a dagger.
Combining this with what [Highkin said on the Raptors show](https://np.reddit.com/r/torontoraptors/comments/16s9ezs/portlands_pov_on_a_potential_damian_lillard_to/), my guess for the framework:
TOR gets: Dame
PHX gets: Nurkic, Boucher, Otto
POR gets: Ayton, OG, Thad, 1 FRP, and probably Gradey
Some sticking points in this general framework in my eyes:
– Would Phoenix really do this? Seems like a big downgrade but if they feel Nurkic gives them like 90% of what they’ll need from Ayton this year at 50% of the price, they can get another 2 depth pieces and mid-sized salaries for future trades.
– Any protections on the pick? How does including Gradey impact the draft capital we send out?
He won rookie of the year when he wasn’t supposed to. Most people thought that he was going to average 8/5/2 in his rookie year, feeling that he’s a long term project.
He struggled last year for a multitude of factors, other teams adjusted to his play style, we constructed a roster that didn’t benefit him at all, we had too many players that put their own needs ahead of the team, limited his development.
Despite all that he had special games, look at the lakers for example. He’s a special player and there’s only 5-10 players in the league you’d realistically trade him for, but definitely not for a 33 year Dame. It’s out of the question, and it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.
As it should be!
Like damn some fans are so fast to want him shipped off
>it’s not that he was taken off the table, he was never in the same room as the table.
Poetry, and good.
As he should be. If Trent goes, you need him at the 3 with Anunoby at the 2. Same goes if Anunoby is moved, that starting SF needs to be filled and Scottie has the upside to pivot into a rebuild if things go awry ie trade Dame/Siakam if the next 2 years don’t go as planned.
not the same room.
not the same floor.
not the same building.
not the same street.
not the same city.
not the same province.
not the same country.
not the same continent.
not the same hemisphere.
not the same planet.
Trade OG+Dick+Filler for Dame.
Than in a year trade Scottie+Filler/Picks for Giannis.
Tell me Dame/Giannis/Siakam/Jakob/GTJ cannot win a Championship ?
LOL this is a pipe dream….Im just fantasizing.
I love Scottie Barnes and hope he thrives with the Raptors for a very long time.
Edit
Yea if we got dame and things didn’t go well next season, siakam could just walk, OG could walk and we’d be left with a disgruntled older Damian lillard with no future.
It’s Dame time, all the time. True legend
I don’t know if I’m the only person who thinks this anymore, but I still strongly believe Barnes has potential to be a top 25 guy in this league.
My concern for Barnes has never been his talent or his shooting ability, it’s his maturity. DLo had his best year ever after being traded to brooklyn (I think it helped him mature a lot). I just hope it doesn’t take some massive event for Barnes to reach that ceiling.
If Masai can get Dame for cheaper, great. But Barnes should be on the table.
Barnes is our guy. He’s not getting traded for 35 year old dame smh
Yeah I could’ve reported you this myself.
Barnes is absolutely insurance for this organization moving forward
Amazing news, really just needed it confirmed
Will be sad to lose Gradey though, he fits nicely with Barnes in age and personality and game fit
Will also be sad to lose OG since he has been a long-term project for the Raptors with such huge upside too, and one of the elite 3+D player in the league when he commits to that role
