TIL: the Raptors could’ve drafted Dame at 6 if they’d lost their last game of the season against the Nets, but ended up winning and getting T-Ross at 8 instead 🥲
They tried their best to lose that game. Ben Uzoh had a triple double, and Solomon Alabi had 11/19/3. It was the worst game I’ve ever watched, with both teams trying desperately to lose.

That was the Ben Uzoh Triple Double game that put us in that 8th spot.
Had we got Dame, BC would have stuck around longer and ultimately would have changed our chances of getting a chip in 2019 for the worse.

But if we didn’t trade for Lowry we’d still have a pick to draft Giannis 👀
For me I wouldn’t change anything that led to the chip but that’s a crazy thought…

Each team has endless what ifs. Coincidentally, I watched The Butterfly Effect on Netflix the other day. Applying that concept to the NBA is fun to think about.

Honestly, our entire 2010s tenure might look completely different if we drafted Dame and it might not have been for the better. We might’ve never fired Colangelo, and never made the moves that we did to get us to 2019.
DeMar might’ve never developed into a star player, Lowry might’ve gotten traded, we probably would’ve never fleeced the Knicks with Bargnani, etc.
