I mean they can and were doing a great job of it actually, but he just doesn’t like how he’s portrayed and likely wishes a lot of that stuff wouldn’t be brought back to light, especially in today’s volatile social climate.

I also find it rather odd that Lakers PR teams didn’t brief these showtime legends on what to say about the series. Kareem, Jerry West and Magic didn’t do any favors for marketing when all they did was condemn an otherwise entertaining TV show. Jeanie didn’t seem to have any problem (publicly anyway) with them shitting all over the show about her father/family’s legacy. I feel like I phone call with the message of “Dude, can you tone it down a bit?” might have been in order

They didn’t even get to his peak stud days. Maybe I’ve read too many of the books, but for most of them I actually think they undersold my imagination of their personalities

There was a lot less cocaine in the show than there was irl. All the former players were complaining, but they probably got off easy lol

  4. I think I like the WT Magic more than the real Magic.

“I bet it was that nasty bitch from sacramento” was waiting for that plot line lol

Magic said he’s got his own production for showtime era that was in the works when asked about his thoughts on winning time. What ever happened to this?

I know Magic considers Kobe to be Mr Laker but I think if Magic never contracted HIV and got to play into the 90s (they were still contending for championships before MJ’s Bulls dethroned them that year before he left that I have no doubt the organization would’ve done more to keep building around Magic for the 90s to be Magic v MJ), we would all view Magic as the face of the Lakers. And I wish Magic would get a chance to have his documentary during his playing career already, not a hilarious fictionalized version
