Better than you think! The New Orleans Pelicans and Zion Williamson have improved from last season

It may look like the New Orleans Pelicans are running everything back around Zion Williamson, but Jake Madison explains there are significant changes to the team this season. He looks at the support and coaching staff being shook up, James Borrego revamping the offense, and natural play growth from guys like Herb Jones and others. All told, little changes like that could make the Pels a very good team this season.

  1. Zion gonna come out in the beginning of the season and just man handle everyone. This is gonna be our year.

  2. I think we need to go small ball. Zion and Nance playing center – with a defensive minded big thrown in for as needed basis.

  3. They aren't. There is a reason why >90% roster continuity is bad while other teams do everything to improve. Especially for a sub .500 team

  4. Jake, it's like this. We are all anxious for the season to start and see this team on the floor. The way last season ended left a bad taste in many fan's mouths for a long off season. But fans have dealt with all the unfortunate injuries, every freakin' year. Even if they do start off kicking ass and taking names, we'll enjoy it; but we'll do it with our fingers crossed. No matter how well they play, people are going to say they look great, but… The theme of this team for the last several years has been "when healthy". Until certain players complete a relatively healthy season, the hesitation to extol praise and invest focus and emotion is just human nature. They have to prove skeptics wrong, and some of those skeptics are huge Pelicans fans. It's like a dude getting cheated on. Sure, she says she won't cheat again, you give her another chance and gosh darn it, she did it again. Eventually you become really hesitant to get your hopes up. It is what it is. We all hope they are improved this season in ways in addition to better health / fitness. But without key components for extended periods, it's hard to see those improvements quite often. Go Pels!

  5. Respectfully this team lost to OKC at home in ANOTHER play in tournament so they didnt get better but worse than last year they've made no progress from last year and with the exposure BI had in the Fiba league on top of Zions new life choices there going to be a below average team again until proven otherwise in my personal opinion.
