Wes Goldberg : Donovan Mitchell Kevin Durant Bradley Beal Damian Lillard all expressed desire to play for the Heat but Miami couldn’t get a deal done. Is it a failure? Idk, maybe. But it’s clear the Heat are limited in their ability to trade for a star (picks, cap, etc). Need to reevaluate

Garbage like the Duncan and Lowry contracts absolutely limited our capital during the Jimbo era. Sad.
It’s because the Heat is never in rebuild mode, it’s why they never have the assets to make it work.
We gave out random contracts to Tyler Johnson, Whiteside, James Johnson yet can’t bring the “whales”. It’s clear that Wade was the one who brought the Big 3 to Miami and Jimmy to Miami as well. We also never have enough picks it seems lol
yeah it’s failure because those pieces could’ve got us over the hump
horrible contract management and assets management got us here we got bailed out by jimmy coming here and getting bam
Now that I’ve calmed down i think this is a fair middle ground. Personally imo it’s a failure but even if you think otherwise it’s fair to say we keep coming short because of our lack of assets
Incompetent washed front office and a cheap ass owner. This is what u get, they’d rather spend money on a player like Duncan Robinson and overvalue their asset. This is fucking bullshit.
The only thing I think the front office deserves some sympathy for in regards to failing on this is that our picks are never valued because the team always tries to compete no matter who is on the roster. It sucks that this attitude gets you punished for when you are ready to push in the chips on a superstar.
I do think if our picks had been valued like the rest of the league’s picks are then this trade would have been done in our favor back in July.
Beyond that though it’s a big fat L.
Real ones were around when Gordon Hayward was a part of this list
We stingy
Every other team has way more assets than we have to offer, can’t hate them for it. But it is annoying when you constantly give out extra money to players which limits our future flexibility
I don’t get this front office. They are stingy but at the same time give out horrid contracts and always work behind the 8 ball cause of that shit. I’m numb as fuck
God y’all are so spoiled, we’ve been the most successful franchise in the East for the last 20 years and y’all still complain.
*Kyrie also wanted to come here
Mitchell and Durant were never gonna happen to begin with. Contextually what we have just didn’t fit. We purposely pulled out of the Beal stuff to gamble for a bigger star, and our offer for Dame was much better than what they got from the Bucks – Cronin was being petty.
Definitely a failure with Dame. The other guys, we were just on a list like we always are because Miami is an attractive destination. Dame’s agent was straight up saying he won’t play anywhere else. That is a failure.
I don’t care what anyone says about Cronin being a baby not answering our calls whatever, the ONLY way this isn’t a fumble is if Jovic or Jaquez turn into something real solid, and while imo that’s not impossible it’s a real if
Whack ass gm. Could have gotten the deal done.
Heat should take a step back this year and try to compile assets for next player who asks out. Trade Caleb for a pick. Develop jjj and jovic, make them assets. Increase hero value by featuring him on offense. Even try to build Orlando Robinson value. Play hard. If you make the playoffs great. If not another asset. We need to be able to compete the next time some one asks out.
Miami went to the finals, since all these trade requests, none of these teams or players have even won a single playoff series. This is a non story, Miami is a well run team
We could’ve got beal for a 2041 9th round pick lol, fuck outta here with not enough assets
Giving up too much in assets makes the Heat the same or worse. All the trades like this over the last 3 or 4 years have turned into a complete disaster. Especially when it’s because a team was embarrassed in the playoffs and now has to go “ALL IN”
The Heat don’t have to do that.
We’re never gonna get over the hump with sleepy Pat in charge
Nah it’s cause the GMs know dealing with us means dealing with a winner – can’t have that. Especially when you have teams that will throw the farm at a guy like BKN or PHX just to have 1st round exits year after year.
Reevaluate 2 finals and 3 ECF in four years?
The issue is really less about superstar power. This team is good enough to win a title without another jimmy level player. The real travesty was not getting a versatile, reliable player at the 4 and adding more firepower to the bench.
We have a bunch of okay players that can step up for a short period but in the later rounds you need at least 1 great scorer and two others who can create consistently. Jimmy and Herro can create but Bam really should be a 4th option and a defensive anchor.
Y’all are so damn reactionary. In what world are we reevaluating after making the ECF 3 times and the finals twice since Jimmy arrived.
Everyone saying we dont have assets when the real reason is the Heat have bult a reputation that our assets are way overrated and overpaid when they are playing in any other system besides the Heat.
It is a problem of being too good at development where most teams are terrible in bring out the best from any player that isnt a bonafide rising star from the draft or an already established super star.
This was clear Cronin was going to fuck us on this from the start. Either we gutted the team for Dame or he went somewhere else. He went somewhere else. It wasn’t a lack of assets. It was a sign the league hates us. Suffering from success.
when other teams trade their stars, they seek a bag of doritos and a Taco Bell cheesy rollup. when it’s the Heat they’re dealing with, they want the whole farm.
How about we stop signing mediocre players to max deals?
Well…there’s always Jrue Holiday…
Lmao let me ask you guys, have we been winning?
Beal or Dame were served on a golden platter and we still fumbled them both, Beal was really cheap as well …
Miami been stuck in a rut since 2016 left honestly, they had a few seasons of over achieving but honestly its been a painful stay these last 7/8 years
