Windy lists eight teams that could be after Jrue … Has Celtics second on his list.

    > Same for the Boston Celtics, who have been looking for a Malcolm Brogdon trade since June and have multiple first-round picks to offer for a player who could replace the defensive leadership of guard Marcus Smart. Holiday was a thorn in the Celtics’ side for years as a Buck and seeing him go West might be a relief, but what if they could acquire him themselves?

I’m not giving up more than 1 1st, brogdon and good depth pieces

On their podcast, when he was talking with Bontemps, he was floored by the idea of the C’s being able to get Jrue without giving up White.

Idk how I feel about potentially losing Al/Timelord. Maybe if there was a separate deal for PP + filler for a cheap big? Zach Collins?

There are avenues to make this happen without losing a big, but they are hard to pull off and they would require the Blazers waiting.

If they didn’t move that haul of guys for Lillard, why would we do it for an inferior player in Jrue?

He’s exactly the kind of guy you’d want running the point for this team, but the benefit just doesn’t outweigh the costs.

Our front court rotation as currently constituted is clearly our biggest question mark on this roster solely due to health; we’re already betting on old Al and two notoriously injury prone bigs to soak up a lot of minutes. I don’t want to think about how thin they’d be if they made this move.

The player is right but the timing isn’t.

But thus sub told me for months that the reports of us trying to trade Brogdon are all bullshit lol

Giving up Al and Brogdon + picks is tough, Jrue’s contract and future is a huge question mark. Talent wise there’s definitely an argument though. The guys been an All-Star level borderline All-NBA level guard these last couple of years. He’d become our 3rd best player with Porzingis and White also in the fold. Our depth would be depleted but you’d still have PP, Hauser, and Rob.

He’s due $35M this year for sure… and an option for 2025 at $36M…

Basically a 1 year rental… for picks and players?

Rather go youth in next 2-3 drafts and spend on #1s and still have $$$ left over…

Jrue will be due a new contract at the same time Tatum is…

    SMFH… 👀🙄🙄🙄💨

  8. I just can’t see a trade for Brogdon plus one of White, Al, or Rob for Jrue. It’s just too much of a deficit in one area to try and bolster another. If it was one for one then sure I get it but the salary matching rules just make it untenable at this point

Make it happen Brad at all cost. Actually, not more than 1x FRP.

Just roll with what you have. This team can still beat Milwaukee if everyone is healthy. Dame will be a killer for them offensively at the end of games, but he’ll also kill them defensively all game long.

I’m ngl I want it but I just want Brad to do his best and give up the right pieces.

  12. freehugandkiss

I’d give up one 1st (not the warriors)or two 2nds brogdon, TL and PP

You would have to get rid of Al which I wouldn’t do. I don’t think there is much difference in the vet/leadership category and Al provides more lineup flexibility.

Also, Jru got COOKED in the playoffs. He has definitely lost a step, though still a good player. You move Al for Dame but not Jru. Can’t make the trade work without AL or white and you can’t move Brogdon and White.

  14. MissingInBrain

Yes, the Cs are def going to send Brogdon, Al AND picks to the Bucks who just got a fucking motivated player. Like…in this weird case, are we trying to help them become a swirling maelstrom of death? I can’t imagine how staggering their motivation to beat the Cs would be.

  15. CrispBenWa

I feel like we could get a third team involved here with all the picks we have without giving up AL or Rob.

At the end of the day, I’d probably just say screw it and send AL + Brogdon and then do another deal to bring in a cheaper big for front court minutes.

Who knows, maybe AL gets bought out and comes back hah.

So basically, folks are suggesting replacing Smart with the closest comp you can find to Smart, only 15M more expensive and 4 years older.

How about Jrue to Memphis and Smart to Boston? Instead of fixing one issue by leaving a 10M hole in the front court

How would losing a big and adding a guard help us with Giannis and Embiid? I don’t think the positive upgrade he is outweighs the negative impact losing one of them creates. We lost Al and we lose our only big who remotely can body Giannis or Embiid. You lose Rob and you lose a key defensive player who is on a cheap contract and is coming into the season healthy. I would hold onto our assets and see what shakes loose from Jrue being traded.
