CAMP QUESTIONS: How can the Raptors get out of the NBA’s murky middle?

    Sort of a newsy tidbit:

    >Siakam’s stated wish is to remain a Toronto Raptor for his career. The hope is the Raptors are either well on their way to accomplishing that or have a team waiting with a cache full of picks and/or young players to ensure any departure from the team by him does not follow the VanVleet path.

Embrace the tank and better leverage Masai and Pascal to attract non-American free agents.

We are always going to struggle to attract American free agents. That’s just the way it is, so fuck it and embrace the Inter Toronto identity. It’s not an American dominated league anymore.

Another article that conveniently ignores the fact that we replaced the entire coaching staff.

    Am I losing my mind?

    That happened right?

Why does it seem like nobody is acting like it?

one way would be to stop giving away first round picks for essentially nothing. another way would be to stop trying to go all in for a play-in game that you can’t even win. a third way would be to not let your players walk for nothing.

I hope we can beat Chicago this year in the mid cup.

Trade up or trade down. Once you pay Siakam a supermax, you’re going to have trouble assembling a great team around him.

We lost a lot of games last year by only a slim difference. Vanvleet leaving, a coach who will play at least 10 players, some better shooting and this team can be top 3. We’re underrated!

I know, why don’t we support these guys, play the season, and shut the fuck up about missed trades, Masai dropping the ball, OG’s pending free agency, Lillard and a bunch of other stuff that was never going to happen? If you honestly think you can do a better job, send your resume to MLSE, 50 Bay Street – Suite 500, Toronto, ON M5J 2L2. I’m sure they’re dying to hear your ideas.

Honestly, am I the only person who likes this team and thinks they have a bright future? Maybe not a championship in 2024, but a solid playoff run in the next few years?

This team is probably the most unpredictable team we’ve had in quite some time so I think we’re likely to play this year out up until the deadline and go from there.

Does Scottie take a step? What about Precious? Does Gradey live up to his lottery status or at least show glimpses? What will Darko’s style look like? Does Schroder ball out for us? Can we shoot 37-38% from deep as a team now that Freddie is gone and if Otto is healthy? How will we look with an actual starting center right from the beginning of the year for the first time in like 3-4 years?

We have a lot of questions and the possibilities range from totally sucking and blowing it up at the deadline to maybe surprising ppl and being a legit playoff team (5th-6th seed).

I have to assume Masai is feeling his seat slowly warming up so that’s another question – will he embrace a direction? How aggressive will he be once he chooses a direction?

Gonna be an interesting year either way.

1)Tank; which they had the perfect opportunity to do last yr but bought at the deadline and gave up their first next year

    2) trade assets for an upgrade; could’ve tried that with trading OG for Dame but they didn’t want to do that either

    3) trade assets to rebuild; this would mean trading Pascal, but you need to resign him first so he has some value. But they don’t want to do that either

There’s no path to get out of the middle.

Their best chance was Dame but Masai would rather have 3 expiring contracts.

Might as well trade Siakam and OG and rebuild.
