[O’Connor] “The Blazers officially chose correctly in waiting to deal Damian Lillard. This is a far more significant return than anything Tyler Herro would have brought in.”

O’Connor continued:

[“The Bucks became the East favorites over the Celtics by acquiring Dame. But Boston takes back that lead with this Jrue Holiday acquisition.”](https://twitter.com/KevinOConnorNBA/status/1708514122709770623?t=v0DiKlLq6XOmGMhkAaavHQ&s=19)

[“Blazers haul for Dame Lillard (plus Nassir Little, Keon Johnson): Deandre Ayton, Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, Toumani Camara, 2024 Warriors 1st, 2028 Bucks swap, 2029 Celtics 1st, 2029 Bucks 1st, 2030 Bucks swap. Huge W for Portland to get this rather than that weak Miami deal. Ayton and Williams are perfect centers to pair with Scoot Henderson and their other young ball handlers. Maybe they’re both keepers, maybe one gets flipped for more draft capital. Brogdon can easily be flipped again too for maybe one first or multiple seconds. Bucks and Celtics could be a in a retooling phase down the line, and all of those picks are unprotected. The Blazers played this saga perfectly.”](https://twitter.com/KevinOConnorNBA/status/1708515913677582754?t=LXt6ryZWNNq9bIVaLr8CQg&s=19)

[“The Bucks and Celtics are on their own tier in the East. Cavs aren’t close. Sixers might be in trouble. Heat are a second round exit at best.”](https://twitter.com/KevinOConnorNBA/status/1708517413355176215?t=g0tjDMbkRG4iOcChyQ1ncw&s=19)

I think it’s fair to say that the Blazers so far (because they still might make more trades) have gotten a good return for Damian Lillard.

It’s unknown if the Heat could have competed what that offer, but then again it’s unknown how much they were willing to offer and if they were truly all-in.

The NBA never seems to disappoint with news.

Not only did they get a great haul for dame

But they also screwed over Miami by making the Bucks and Celtics way better while also ruining their dream of getting Giannis

    Good shit Cronin

  2. wooIIyMAMMOTH

Heat fans will tell you Herro + 2 firsts is a better package than they got and Cronin is just petty.

  3. likpoper

They traded dame to bucks, jrue to Boston and fucking destroyed Miami hopes.

We got back ayton and timelord tied down for next 3 years while getting 3 frp and 2 pick swaps. Malcom is going to land something as well

  4. Waikuku3

Turns out GMs know their job and how to make a deal /s

  5. Background_Celery341

But Heat fans will tell you Cronin is the worst GM in the league and owed it to Dame to trade him to Miami.

  6. NotGonnaGetCaught

Heat’s offer was trash compared to this

  7. The_Sign_of_Zeta

Blazers got 3 quality starting caliber players, 3 first round picks, and 2 swaps. Made out like bandits.

    Edit: 3, not 4.

  8. george_costanza1234

Pat Riley needs to hit the retirement homes

  9. vrkhfkb

Jimmy Butler is gonna be the Stockton of this era 😭. Getting deep into the playoffs but always just a fodder for the champs.

    Someone please wake up Riley.

  10. TheTrueVanWilder

    Daaaaaan…beep…Miami fans…beep…were loud wrong

  11. RipCityGringo

Can you repeat that loud enough for the delusional Heat Stans in the back?!

  12. Original-Common-7010

How funny would it be if they traded ayton to the dubs for paul and 3 firsts?

  13. 86avocados

As a former fan of the team, I’m shocked the FO showed any form of competency in these trade talks. After the RoCo and CJ trades, I lost hope that they’d ever come out of a trade as the winner. Great job by everybody involved to make this happen.

  14. KyleShanadad

Yeah honestly I didn’t think Portland would get that much back for Jrue. They made out well.

  15. SummerGoal

Credit to the blazers, they stood firm against public pressure all summer and pulled in a massive haul

  16. GenderIsAGolem

Turns out the pettiness wasn’t skipping on Riley’s lowball but sending good players to his top competition. A+ for Above Average Joe

  17. Lake_Shore_Drive

Can we stop pretending anyone would want to trade for Tyler Herro?

  18. w3bCraw1er

Blazers knew. Tyler Zero was a worthless asset.

  19. forkliftgod

The return was solid, probably better than what Miami was offering, but I don’t see how getting expensive decent vets back is some great strategy for Portland.

Brogdon and Williams help them win. Are they planning on competing?

  20. arctikat

Heat really lowballed Portland thinking they got leverage his desire to be in Miami. All that happened was it made two teams in the east a lot better.

  21. Theballharperhit

they get an amazing haul and manage to fuck the heat twice on top of it lol. Karma

  22. Knights-0f-Ren

Miami fans pivoting to “we’ll get Embiid” is hilarious

Ya’ll didn’t have the assets to get Dame, and you think you’ll have enough for Morey to trade Embiid 😂

  23. creamyturtle

maybe we should teach Herro some heat “culture” so he can learn to play defense

  24. Ok_Wing_9523

Cronin is mad if he thinks brogdon ayton 1 first round pick 2 pick swaps and role players > tyler herro

  25. rogozh1n

Could have done better if they got the Heat’s starting 5 and all draft picks in next 10 years. Plus Hardaway and Mourning.

  26. dBlock845

This is why you don’t cave to the superstar demand of being traded to x team. You do whats best for your fan base.

  27. GiannisisMVP

Lol they absolutely did not go ahead. Especially since Timelord was huge for stopping Embiid. We may completely avoid playing them if we get the first seed and they get second with Philly 3rd

  28. Tiny-Problem2212

Dude, I absolutely love how full of shit NBA media and fans are. All last year, I was listening to talk about Jrue is overrated, Marcus Smart is better, our ring doesn’t count. Now, not only is Jrue apparently better than both Smart AND Dame, but Jrue’s ring is suddenly unassailable evidence of what a winner and clutch playoff performer he is. Lmao.

  29. rustyshackleford_711

Why is every talking head failing to mention Nurkic in the trade too? He was basically a swap for Ayton not necessarily Dame lol

  30. VoidMageZero

Portland can still flip Brogdon and Williams lol, they did better than expected for trading Dame. Give their GM his flowers, he deserves it after the hate over the last couple seasons and is legit turning his team around.

  31. shockwave8428

Idk about the quote saying Boston took back the favorites role after the jrue trade

  32. CP3HARDENKDKYRIESUCK

Say it louder for the Miami fans in the back. NOBODY WANTS TYLER HERRO. You guys don’t even want him.

  33. ParsnipPizza

This really should bury the “spite trade” nonsense. And Dame seems content so the “moral” justification falls apart too.

    Eat shit Miami

  34. The_Duke_of_Nebraska

    “He’s 23 and averages 20+, he’s totally gonna be a superstar!”
Pretty soon every team will have two 20-a-game-guys (they almost do already). He gives nearly what he gets in the other end, and you really can’t play him at any other positions but SG. (Not to mention shrinking in the playoffs outside an aberrant rookie bubble run)

  35. Allyougame

Thinking about Pat Riley this offseason is hilarious.

  36. alexmullen4180

Im shocked to see KoC say the Celtics are favorites again, truly shocked. Seriously though I like KoC on the Mismatch but i just wish he would admit he’s still a C’s fan, the bias is clear and the impartial act jist makes it kinda annoying
