How do Miami Heat compete with fortified Celtics and Bucks? | Five on the Floor

Portland made another trade of a star guard to one of Miami’s East rivals, this time Jrue Holiday to the Boston Celtics. So how do the Heat compete with the Bucks (with Dame Lillard) and Celtics (with Holiday)? And which is the tougher task? Ethan Skolnick is joined by Brady Hawk and Eternal Bast to discuss.

  1. Do you think we will attempt get Brogdon? We really need a point guard. What's up with the trade with Cole Anthony trade?

  2. After being wrong all offseason, you guys need to admit that Joe Cronin did a good job given the circumstances. The Heat FO overplayed their hand and got burned.

  3. Wow you knuckle heads in Miami are just delusional. 2 weeks ago Dame is 100% heading to miami even though Cronin hasn’t talked to you since July lol. Now you think you can beat Boston? +350 title odds vs +3000 😂

  4. Sours grapes anyone. Insult the Blazers because the Heat got kicked to the curb and most likely will get dog walked by Celtics and Bucks this year. There's that good Ole Heat arrogance. Ironically, that same attitude kept the Heat from getting Dame. 😂😂😂😂

  5. I disagree, to me Dame is a top 5 PG to be in the league in the last ~20-25 years. Losing Jrue is not nothing Jrue Holiday one of the best wing defenders in the league, lets say Dame avg's 32 a game but against Jrue that drops to 27-25 that's already a positive. On top of being a hall of fame defender he shoots 45-46% on catch and shoot 3s and can get you an easy 20pts a game. He has been a solidified point guard since coming in the league and can get you 5-7 assists a game…so already his impact is on par with Dame over all. But what makes it worse is that now Smart is gone, that is gonna change the dynamic on the court, no longer are you gonna see Smart fighting with trying to solidify himself as the point guard on the team. Those end of the game Smart buzzer beaters are gone. Jrue doesn't need to go to boston to prove anything and he is replacing smarts impact on defense if not improving plus now Tatum and Brown are about to pick up alot of knowledge from having Jrue around. It's a loss all around for us, great pick up for Boston and if Brown and Tatum come out better versions of themselves this season it is a big problem for the rest of the league.

Yes, Cronin won this off-season, all at the same time stuck it to our team maybe even out of spite. Cronin did indeed win.

  6. To say boston isn't better is a nasty take. Yall smoking swamp water. Rob williams has never played as many games as porzingas played last year. Smart is just as injury prone as porzingas. And grant williams lost his spot in the rotation by january last year. And was a playoff nonfactor. All 3 were highly inconsistent. The only loss was brogdon who is injury prone and HURT RN. They replaced those 4 guys with 2 all stars. If your not going to talk about smart, brogdon and rob injury history. Bringing up porzingas is nasty work. Especially given he played more then both of them last yr. The celtics bought to win 60gms. They have 4 guys who can get 40.

  7. Holiday is a good player but he's not the answer for any team. He's is a great perimeter defender, but his offense can lack at times and can make some dumb on court decisions. If anything its a lateral move. Celtics front court is old and injured.

  8. The heat are done. Not only did Pat play the situation with arrogance. It just stocked the Bucks and the Celtics with to super team level. The Blazers have and will continue to get more of a massive haul once they move Brogodan. Only way heat can adjust is getting an Embiid type. But they have weak assets and don't want to move any star. I think it's time to move Jimmy.

  9. I call Total BS. On ppl. Claiming Cronin was responsible for this Disaster Heat Off season. First off, look at the total amount of assets Portland got. And they still have Brogdan they might flip as well.
Riley apologist's claim they got rid of Lilard for an Old Ham an Cheese Sandwich, and a Bag of Chips. Just to piss off Miami, Reguardless of what they offered.
Every GM aspiring to win a Championship has a Back up plan concerning off Seanson Pick ups.
What was Miami's Plan. Looks like it is Pray for another Miami Miracle Play off run.
You would think they would have some urgency since Butler is 34.
    Learn from Portland's mistakes Miami.
I have a new name for the Heat GM. Stand-Pat😂

  10. Yes we should feel bad.

Idk if Cronin won for Portland but he certainly spited us magnificently.

If we somehow win the East this year it’ll feel like a ring to me as a huge screw you to everyone. But we need Jovic and Tyler to both take a leap…. Which would be prob better than acquiring Dame already so…. Yea. A stretch.

  11. I think the saddest part about everything is we clearly were content just “winning the East” when the bubble squad won two games against Lakers but wasn’t close and last year we won a game and could barely score 100 points but hey “we won the East”. Now the East is better and we still don’t have enough to even contend with the West. All while waiting for the fourth consecutive offseason for a “whale” that never came. Can we get back to keeping our targets out of the media and PLEASE stop overpaying scrubs. Don’t let the market corner you into overpaying for non stars
